I agree! Nothing stopping you, you just need to try something different.

Taken during the rain underneath an umbrella for about 4 minutes:

Taken in-between rain as a HDR:

Black and white loves crappy weather.

I predict a switch around in my area's weather pattern, from mainly grim days with some decent evenings, to nicer days followed by grim evenings.
After almost 12 frustrating months on an evening shift, I finally switch to days this coming Monday :D

I think southern Europe has plenty of sunshine at the moment. I am almost tempted to pick up a cheap weekend break

in here, the next sunny week is probably not due till next march :gag:

theres no such thing as bad weather ... its all good for something

Yup, I'm in agreement.

I've been a fair weather shooter mostly until recently. I'm now trying more conditions and more projects to give me something to shoot no matter what the conditions are.

On Saturday the wind was almost gale force at moments, the rain driving at points, but I was properly dressed, had my tripod and just took my time taking some longer daytime exposures to try and capture the atmosphere in black and white (film).

Those breaks in the rain can leave the air really crisp and sharp, and when the sun suddenly comes out you can get very dramatic shots. Overcast days can also be good for street photography. Throw in a flash and you can get some good contrasty shots of people with a less distracting background.

The D800 should be weather sealed, get out there and capture some stormy landscapes with dramatic lighting, The camera will be ok and you will dry off at some point.

I cannot believe, well actually I can believe how right i've been! Even the nicer evenings in these last 2 weeks have taunted mercilessly!
I will be looking at getting a tripod again soon I think and getting into lanscapes
