Ok, so I checked my 'latest activity' on Flickr and see that a few of my photos became favourites. I left it at that and thought cool, someone likes my photos. My wife then also checked and clicked on some user's portfolio and all his photos are of fat naked women and all his favorites are all porn-like material.

[S3]Disgusting[/S3]

This was the picture he favourited.

A big ole' can of 'block this user' came his way. Something just creeped me out about him.

Anyone have similar situations (or am I the only one with this kind of luck)?

A similar thing happened to me. I put some shots of a bluegrass band on flickr and they got fave'd by a guy called "Bubba Love Bib Overalls". When i checked his profile a content warning came up and some most unsavoury shots... ewww :(

don't use flickr myself, but I got a similar thing with a video I stuck on YouTube. Best blocked and ignored

Only a couple of my shots have been favourited (woe is me etc etc! ;) ), they'd have to be verrrrrrrrry very strange to be getting any kind of weird kick out of it though, just photos of a balloon and a tortoise! So I'm hoping it's because they like the photos!

My most viewed pic on flickr is of a rather attractive police woman - 120+ views and invites to add it to 'police women' groups. To me the pic was really random... strange :)

My most viewed on flickr is

Added to groups and with 30+ views. A young lady shopping on Wanfujing Street in Beijing.

If I get anybody faving my pics and they dont have anything or just porn they get blocked.

This is my most viewed image. 2585 views.

If you don't want people to like your photos don't put them on the internet. It's simple.

BTW, why is that people are allowed to hotlink images from flickr to this forum without complying by flick's T&C's that a return link should be provided? Surely the TP administration should move to sort this issue out.

All it requires is a simple "http" code wrapped around the "img" tags.

thanks for the heads up.. as a non flickr user i didnt know that.

Do as he says people..or he will come round and mess in your slippers

Sir,yes Sir...........:D

BOTH slippers.

Seriously, it's only fair and provides a link back to that persons photostream for anyone interested.

Ok then, how do we do it?

My most viewed pic is of a light pole (like a lampost with more lights at the top)

Like this
PHP:
[URL="http://THIS POINTS TO THE URL OF YOUR IMAGE AT FLICKR"][IMG]http://FLICKR IMAGE[/IMG][/URL]
Easy enough :)

we will make something up for that

That'll be handy because when I post a series of images on here it's a bit of a bind doing it for every one, although theres really no excuse for not doing for a single image.

Why would that be your most viewed? It doesn't seem (no disrespect) a very interesting photo?

BTW, when I link to flickr I link to the page in the photostream rather than the image itself, e.g my most viewed picture (2520 views) is this.

There doesn't seem to be too many fetishes involving flooded football stadia!

My most viewed pic is of me in a kilt. Flickr is full of filthy perverted women.

new to flickr. how can I tell if someone has veiwed any of my pics or put them in their favourite box?

If you look under 'you', it should say 'your stats', although it might only be for pro accounts? Not sure though to be honest! Seeing as how everyone's doing it I guess, here is my top viewed! (a colossal 18 times!!!)

That's the trouble when you have pics of friends and family. I don't make those kind of photos public, they can only be viewed by family.

I do get people favouriting strange stuff though, like emergency vehicles!

I'd want to do that but it's a ton of work trying to get your family to sign up for an account and engage themselves.

Being in the medical field I can understand emergency vehicles being favourited ;)

If you don't want people to like your photos don't put them on the internet. It's simple.

Hard to comment on that. I hope your pics get favourited by pedophiles and perverts or other people start stealing and breaking copyright and then we'll see how you react. Then it won't be so simple.

I'm sure people have a link to their Flickr profile somewhere, like the one in my sig and in people's profiles.

The T&C's on Flickr state that if you show the image elsewhere, you must provide a link back to the photo PAGE on flickr, not a link to the image.

so that simple URL thing doesnt work, and it's something that we can't do for you automatically.

You put the actual URL of the image inbetween image tags, then you must provide a link to the actual photo page (the part of your profile), not just a clickable link to the picture again.

To be fair, it's not our problem to chase up. It's Flickr's.
I'm sure Flickr wouldn't be active either, should our T&C's be breached ;)
The problem is, they don't make it easy. It's quite longwinded to get a link to your image, then turn it into an image on a forum, with a clickable link back to the photo page. They *do* provide a handy link back to paste...but in HTML, which is disabled for 90% of vbulletin forums (for security reasons....including ours).

We use BBCode...and they could easily implement a box with a BBCode link in, with a link back...and Flickr users have been crying out for this functionality for years....but Flickr have chosen to ignore those requests.

;)

This is my most viewed, 473 times so far. There seems to be a definite interest in anything related to the emergency services, from vehicles to equipment to personnel. Dunno why but there you go.

>>It's quite longwinded to get a link to your image, then turn it into an image on a forum, with a clickable link back to the photo page

IMHO it isn't. It is really easy to fix the HTML for each pic, and if one has a decent txt editor I am sure one could write a macro to do the legwork.

It is a matter of seconds when you have done it a few times by hand... I wonder if there is any mileage in hassling Flickr for a BBCode output for their HTML generator... or there may be a greasemonkey script to do the job anyway.

B.

There is a greasemonkey script to add it to the page, but people have been hassling Flickr for it for ages, and they have ignored said requests.

yup - there is a greasemonkey script to do the job (and a load more) Here

Note - this script will only work if your browser runs greasemonkey (and greasemonkey is installed)

The image below was inserted using AllSizes+

OOPS! Sorry Marcel, you got there first, however perhaps you could include a reference to the GM Script in your FAQ for TP?

This one is my most viewed on flickr. got someone who has added it as a favourite, dunno why though?

Not sure why but looking at this picture makes me crave delicious French fancies.

I totally agree with that.

Here is my most viewed (171) and have had a go at doing the direct link thing to see if I can make it work!!!!!

Edit: Nope must be really thick cos I cannot make it link back at all, despite fiddling around with the code??????

Double edit: Aha looks like I have made it work, not exactly intuative though, you would think Flickr might try and make it easier to just cut and paste the necessary code into other sites so the link back works properly?

This is my most views (119 - woohoo):

It has been favourited by some Norwegian dude, I've just had a look at his photos and they're pretty good, so no weirdos for me!!!

FWIW it is pretty easy to add the link to the Flickr page, you don't even need to add tags, highlight the image BBCode click on
createlink.gif
then copy the URL from your Flickr page into the link URL box that pops up...

I've had a few faves from people with no user icon, no photos available to me, no groups visible etc. They may be perverts, but if the kind of thing I photograph is what floats their boats, I'm happy to let them have a good time ;)
I would be a bit more protective if I actually had photos of people in my collection.

I know what the OP is talking about, I've had some weird picks as favourites from my flickr, and some dodgy request to add shots to a group (the women in sporting briefs group) which I declined.

The top two shot of mine are one from 2007 at 105 views

And one from this month at 104

My most viewed pic is one of my daughter:

Bit of an odd pic to be that popular really

Not flagged as a favourite by anyone though which is fine by me

This happened to me on deviantart once and turned out to be a joke by a friend a couple of months ago (maybe last year, I'm not sure).
She pretended she was a gay dude, putting pretty much all of my photos into 'his' favourites. Before thanking them for that, I usually verify whether it's not been marked as a favourite by accident, i. e. whether it's still in among their favourites. I had a look at those and was getting worried as most of the favourites were pictures of a penis of some kind.
I was trying to be polite and I have thanked for the favourites and replied to 'his' comments. This went on for a bit until 'he' finally sent me a link to a photo of 'himself' in a PM (asking for a date, I think).
So a quick 'No' as a reply followed, blocking 'him' afterwards.

I think she contacted me that day and explained, probably laughing her head off. It seemed I could use some love, she said. :p
