We all know the problems i had with my Mac mini but some of those issues have now been solved and i still really want a Mac. I want an iMac and think this would be better for me than a Mini.

There are roumers that the new iMac may be released very soon (next couple of weeks poss) I'm not fussed about getting one of the new ones as the basic current one will be more than fine for me.

SO.. When would it be a good time to buy an iMac? Will resellers be selling the old stock at reduced prices? Has anyone seen any reduced. Apple have no refurbished units and most resellers still have stock.

It would be nice to save a few quid but timing will be the factor!

Any help appreciated

if you want one wait - as on both counts when the one comes out get it or the price will drop on current models.

I don't particularly want a new one as the current one is superb but as you say i'll wait and see.

The Hackintosh idea is still in my mind.

John lewis: Yep, good point! I'll keep an eye!

Yep, thats the one i want. I'm just waiting for my refund from Apple for the Mini. They have confirmed that they have received the Mini back and payment is in hand.

There is a roumer that the new iMacs are due next week!

Really !! I have held off buying an iMAC, just in case, so this is nice news.

Just a duo to quad processor? Or more?
Who knows but it looks like Quad core on the upper range. From what i have gathered there is not a huge difference between the old and new except for spec. They may be all black but these are just roumors!!!

At the Feb Mac conference they said they were almost ready to ship 'new products' which we think are the iMac, Mac Mini and a few other bits.

I phoned Apple today who said that they have not been told of any new arrivals so either they are lying or Apple HQ are keeping very quiet. Many resellers are saying that they were told not to order any new iMac or Mini stock!!!! So read into that what you will!

I may give the Mini another chance as i'm struggling to get the money together for a iMac and i love my Samsung screen Sooooo much it will be hard to let it go.

i'll just give my normal tip
always buy macs from John Lewis. They are as cheap as anywhere but have 2 years warranty instead of 1

I thought that when getting my first mac. How ever they wern't much help when a few things went wrong. Came up with as many excuses as they could think of and the poeple you talk didn't seem to have a clue.

I have seen talk of a 28" iMac!! I thought the 24" iMac looked scary enough!!!!! :D

Surely the answer is when you can't get your t shirt on because of the sheer amount of hair on your chest :D

JohnLewis are out of stock and are not getting any more in!!!!!

Are they not getting more Macs, as in the whole range, or are they not getting any of a specific model?

Just iMac as that's all i asked about...silly me!

I guess if they are not getting iMacs, that says a lot !

Maybe, maybe not. They were scarce before macworld, the last time these rumours were about.
Of course at some point the rumour will be true, it seems to be perpetual and apple will update them, sometime.
Don't read anything into what the sales staff say, it's their job to tell people about new stuff so they will be the last to know. It's very common practice to keep sales people in the dark until the last minute, they're not lying, they just don't know.
