When this is all over?

I've been watching some street photography videos by a guy called Samuel Linhoff and it's made me want to shoot more street. Watching him walk through busy streets is a little therapeutic at the moment. I'm not a city slicker by any stretch but I do have a couple of different cities no more than an hour away

If anybody has any other recommendations for street youtube channels i'm all ears!

I watch these

Ive been doing a fair bot of street the last year not something I could see myself doing but I do really enjoy it.

Back to my favourite area - The Cairngorms National Park
Thankfully, when photographers head for Scotland they tend to visit the West and N. West leaving the stunning east coast and CNP for me :D
I have had a yearning to go there....

I've got a cottage on the Black Isle booked to spend a whole week watching and photographing dolphins in June 2021 - if I get to do that i'll be happy.

We were meant to be in Yellowstone for two weeks in mid June this year but that's obviously not possible, and I doubt it will be feasible next year either, but hopefully we'll get to do that in 2022.

I‘ll be heading back home to “Spring Creek Tennessee” for a while.:)

George.

We were due to got to NZ for a belated celebration of my wife's big birthday. Fortunately, their PM stopped us with just 5 days to go - what a nightmare that would have been so- NZ with a side visit to my brother and friends in Oz.

I had a week alone in Slovenia booked in June to drive around, do some hikes and take photos. I'll be doing that once it's safe to do so.

Otherwise, I'd just love to do some motorsport photography. I had tickets to the Goodwood Members Meeting and FoS but both of those are out of the question now.

Anywhere by the coast, maybe our beloved Cornwall.

Me, the missus, Rosie the dog all in our self converted camper van.

I can just picture us pulling up in the King Arthur's Arms carpark and saying hello to the owner again, another Terry.

Is that the camp site at the end of the village past the top of the lane down to the beach? If so, spend many a rather drunken evening on biking weekends down there, finding a corner well away from families to avoid disturbance (of them in the evenings and of us in the mornings!!!) Looking forward to getting down to Pengenna pasty shop too.

No that's Headland campsite Nod. Great value at £23 a night including electric hookup. We stay there when we need a shower then b****r off back to the Arms carpark.

King Arthur's Arms is the big pub on the right, opposite the old NT Post Office.

£4 a night.

Not allowed to park on the grass now now but you can can use the bays on tarmac if your vehicle fits.

Sorry, that was me not reading properly! IIRC it was a fiver a night for a tent when we used to go down - it's only just over an hour away on a bike. The King Arthur's Arms is where we'd go for a bite to eat and a pint or 2 before heading back, sometimes via the "beach" if the tide was playing nicely. When we head down that way these days, we tend to go a couple of miles beyond Tintagel, to the Port William at Trebarwith Strand for lunch. Stayed there for a couple of nights in early 2013.

Me also, a week in Jackson for Grand Teton NP from 4th June then onto Yellowstone NP (staying in a cabin in Silvergate) for 8 days. Have you been before at this time of year? It’s my favourite time for the huge amount of wildlife plus the weather can offer winter and spring photo opportunities (often in the same day!). Absolutely gutted not to be going (though in theory our American Airline flight is not yet cancelled) particularly as I’m not sure I can convince Mrs H to go back again.

You'll love it!! :p:p
Drier climate and less midgies on the east coast ;)

I had booked 2 weeks on Mull, commencing 18th April- that has now been moved to October 17th for 2 weeks - as the tour company refuse point blank to offer me a refund, despite us being in lockdown

I'm hoping this virus has been sorted by October :)

Just getting out on the new, to me, bike will be great.

Les you have seen the thread regarding contracts being null and void due to the lockdown?
They cannot legally refuse you a refund.

Can’t see tourism by air starting up again for a few years , and gut feeling says that cruise ship holidays will be a forgotten pastime .. if we get a bit of freedom back by mid summer it would be nice to get down the beach . only 10 miles for me to talacre

You actually believe we will not be flying for a few years?.... I think a lot of people are starting to lose their minds during this lock down :)

No idea yet, just had one cancelled holiday and next two are very doubtful.
If things have improved perhaps somewhere like Austria or Switzerland for Christmas

We were there in 2018 at same time for two weeks, stayed in Gardiner at start and finish and five days in Jackson in the middle. This time we were due to stay in Gardiner at start and finish and in between have a few days each in Cooke City (to do early and late Lamar Valley) and a cabin on a mountain ranch outside the East Gate.

I'd have no problem persuading Mrs Y to go back, she loved it and is gutted we aren't getting to go this year. Technically nothing is cancelled yet but we know it will be.

I appreciate that- however: They remain firm on the no refund part - they do offer a re-scheduling of holidays as seen on their
home page

https://www.islandholidaycottages.com/

and on their cancellation page it states this

It is the customer's responsibility to take out relevant holiday insurance to cover against any events arising causing cancellation of their holiday. In the event of cancellation of your booking less than 2 months before your holiday the balance cannot be refunded.

That's why you use credit cards :) for almost all purchases. as well as protection for online purchases, never use a debit card :)

contracts are often covered by a Force majeure clause, that can give a let out to either side. it is always best to look at the small print.
Clauses that would mean one side or the other must break the law are always unenforceable. though not necessarily void the entire contract.

When this is all over Lawyers are going to have a field day.

So when we finally get through this crisis where are you heading with your camera?

I pray by October it's lifted as I plan to spend my entire Autumn in the French and Spanish Pyrenees. I am hopeful by then we can travel.

Before that just more local stuff like Glencoe and Skye. I don't really do much photography until Mid May as I don't like the winter months so I am hopeful I can get a few outings this summer. If not - it will all be there when I can.

I had hoped to head to the Elan valley in early May for some morning late Spring reflections but that's a non starter.

That's good to hear.
We were intending to do a bit more travelling in these islands this summer, rather than abroad, and the east coast of Scotland is an area which we have not visited - apart from Fife when I used to play golf.
We fancied a leisurely drive holiday rather than the hustle of the airports and flights.

We wanted to go to V&A in Dundee and the Braemar area.
Perhaps we will be able to visit in the autumn, but I am not hopeful that we are going to come through this crisis very well.

Been trying to sell our house in Greece for over two years and finally sold it and booked flights home to the UK on a Wednesday and on the Saturday before everything was cancelled by the airline so now still in Greece, sold house, having to rent another so what I am I doing when it's all over? UK here we come, Fish and Chips from the chippie, decent pork joint with crackling, trade in my 70D, 100-400mm Ver1, for a 5D MK iv and a 500 or 600m F4 then out to find some decent bird life, build a hide in the garden, reflection pool, somewhere to sit and a place to put down my cuppa tea there is more but that's for another day maybe. Russ.

Are you as locked down on Rhodes as they are on Crete, Russ?

Hi, Kind of, we have to text a number with a number from 1 to 6 each saying reason for movement and get a replied movement text back that must be shown to police if requested, if you don't have one it is a 150 euro on the spot fine. We have had only two cases here and both dealt with very fast so still clear to date. Fingers crossed it will stay that way. Have to say the Greek Government acted very fast at the outset, closed ALL schools within days and brought in restrictions on travel so have to applaud them on that. Russ.

Autumn around the Braemar area is stunning.

There was a thread that asserted that a contract could not be fulfilled by either party then the contract was un-enforcable and as such null and void, so a deposit would have to be refunded, wedding based thread, I'll see if I can find it.
It's known as a frustrated contract, worth looking into.
