When opening a picture on PC shows red x

When trying to open a picture on the second hard disk on the PC, the pictures instead of being displayed shows a red x. :thinking: Pictures from the first hard drive show ok. Confused. :gag:
 
These were viewable before today?

Checked the disk for errors?

Does right clicking properties give correct file type and permissions etc?

Yes - They were fine before today

did chkdsk and all is ok

Yes - righ clicking give correct property info.
 
Have you tried moving a photo from 2nd drive to the first then opening it?
 
What format are the pictures and what are you trying to view them in?
(Were you using the same application before today?)

Jpeg format. Tried using MS photo viewer. Also tried FastStone viewer.

What was the answer to the Q in post #4?

Do you get preview thumbnails in explorer and / or faststones browser view?

Will a web browser show the picture?

What antivirus/firewall do you use? no chance that is blocking it somehow?

guess you've tried a cold reboot?
