to turn the heating on? It's narf chilly in our front room, especially as teh big black clouds have just come over! Said to husband last night, it's getting chilly, shall we turn the heating on? His reply, 1st October! I know it's only a few days away but I'm cold now :lol::lol::lol::nono:
 
When the outside temperature drops below 5 degrees C for more than 12 hours. Otherwise, just put on a jumper!
 
It's never too early for heating. I hate being cold and if I'm at home I don't want to be wrapped up in a jumper. I just want to be warm and comfy.
 
I've had my heating on for the last 3 days! Bleeding nippy in the evenings :(

:lol: Got a jumper on and a blanket wrapped round me - husband says I have the blood of a turnip, funny seeing as teh amount of layers of fat I have - shouldn't be cold :| :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
 
i would have mine on but the bloody things bust again:bang::bang:
 
Ours is going on tonight - it's getting bloody cold! Sod the carbon footprint.:razz:
 
We had new heating put in in March and damned if I can work it out :suspect: Bound to do something wrong - might just get another blanket and wait for husband to get home from work. Serves me right for leaving work early ill - had a nice warm office!

I've had the office heater on for a good part of the summer. I'm a particularly cold person.

We've had the fire lit at home for a couple of weeks now. Nothing like going home to a real fire.

but to be on topic.

I have not long been in and still have a jumper on and have also clicked the heating onto defrost.
Think I might go back out where it's warm.
 
I said to the wife last night, "put your coat on love"

She said; "why? are we going out?"

I said "I'm off to the pub and I'm turning the heating off!!".

BOOM BOOM.

Old Bobby Thompson joke that one.

Anyway, even us hardened Geordies have had the heating on a bit over the last few days - AND, there was ice on the windscreen this week - never a good sign!!!

(Although part of me is thinking about those early morning frosted landscape shots ;) )

We've had our heating on for the last couple of weeks as our house gets quite cold in the evening. the 'right' time to turn it on is when you get cold - isn't it? :thinking:

Just closed the windows and doors for the day and I'm still a bit warm, might as well have a glass of red on the verandah to cool down eh? :lol:

The heating is only used between October and March and the stat isn't allowed above 24degrees :)

If an insulated house and good double glazing doesn't keep you warm, you're too far from the Kitchen

Is the 1st October not a month early? :rules:
 
Ours went on tonight for the 1st time this year.
Thermostat is set at 18 degrees (always). The heating kicked in... It's not even October yet, quite.
 
Ours doesnt come on until we are freezing!

The less time we have to pay for heating the better.

The bedroom window is open all night, still.. so not much point with heatiing!!

Call us southerners soft!! :D: lol:
 
my mrs lets me turn the heating down in june and july.:(
coming home on a cool evening , its like opening the oven door when i walk in.
we have 6 motorbikes between us.she only rides hers when the air temp is above 20 degrees and it hasnt rained for 6 months.
if i,m outside in shorts, shes inside in a jumper , complaining shes cold. :shrug:
i want to open the fridge door , i have to close the front room door first. :bang:
 
My heating has been on for two days, was starting to look like a Michellin advert I was wearing so many jumpers! :p
 
And another thing...... £345 for 1000 Litres of oil this week. :'(
 
Ours has been on sporadically for the past few weeks.
My wife is one of those who could feel a cold draught in a Crematorium Oven (I guess....she hasnt actually confirmed that).

Me on the other hand need sub arctic temperatures or my face usually starts leaking.
 
My heating will be switched on when my fingers and toes start to turn blue... Ive got a nice extra layer of body insulation keeping me warm. :)

Therefore, my tip is eat more pies it saves on the winter heating bill.
 
Our central heating is never turned off , the 'stat is set to 20c and if it decides it's cold then the radiators get warm.

I can never understand why people turn of an automated temperature controlled system :thinking:

Good question, and the answer is too short a time. About 3 months, if I'm lucky, over the winter. this is compounded by the fact that I have another tank to feed the oil fired range to cook on and it's just as hard on it over the winter but.... You pays your money and you takes your pick, as they say here.
