As per my previous post here I have a Fuji s8100fd which exhibits blue'y white vertical banding of any bright objects

This is evident in the evf/viewfinder on focus (1/2press of shutter button), but not in the final picture. But it is stored in any video taken.

I spoke to a Fujifilm support techie yesterday and he appeared surprised as he was able to replicate the issue on the first camera he picked up in his office.

I have had a dig around in various forums. Some say this is a common issue for all digicams. Others say that it happens a lot for Fuji's

So is this acceptable - is the camera fit for purpose. Do many other cameras suffer with this anomaly.

If it is inherent in the model (and by the sounds of it it is) then I would say it's more of a failing of the product as a whole rather than a fault.

I get something similar with my Nikon P5100 compact. Don`t know why, it`s just under certain light conditions. Again, you don`t see it on the final image.

I have a fuji bridge camera and I have the exact same problem. I only really notice it when I point at the sun. Yes it's a problem, but it doesn't stop me using the camera. It's that rare I want to shoot straight in to the sun anyway.

Yes Matt, I think I'd get exactly the same if the sun ever came out. lol
I only started to notice his strange anomaly taking sample shots on a bright day. But in this case I was pointing away from the sun at a house. I got the bluey/white vertical bands eminating from the entire width of the houses' double glazing window frames.
This seems a little extreme to me. Seems I can only use it on overcast days - certainly to shoot videos anyway.:(
