I have been posting quite a lot lately and I am enjoying being part of this forum. Thanks everyone for making it so intersting and friendly.

I joined, I searched and I asked my newbie questions. Finally I have reached 50 whole posts - yea ha. The thing is, I have some loverly bits and bobs I want to sell and some money I want to raise to buy my new lenses...but I have to clock up 100 posts before I can post in the for sale section.

Sorry to rock the boat so early...but is 100 posts a bit too many? Is there really any difference between someone who has posted 50 and 100 times?

I relented this weekend and stuck a load of stuff on evilbay - sigh.

Still, on the bright side. I just clocked up another one:bonk:

You can always ask some other guys to sell it for you here! I personally think that 100 posts is quite a lot, but it only adds to the safety so you don't get some nobody trying to scam us! I am selling some stuff on ebay :D Not too bad I say :P Hope you manage to sell the things you wanted to! Happy new year :)

No, the 100 post and 30 day rule isn't excessive.

It was brought in as a measure to prevent people signing up just to sell, it's managed to restrain that so far.

Your not new though are you......it says your quite chatty :D

hope it helps clarify matters for you

It's an anti scam thing but it's also because the forums are about helping others not selling stuff. If all a person wants to do is sell gear then they have many other outlets they can use, the limit exists to try and make sure only those committed to the forums can have the benifit of selling their excess gear.

100 posts insnt to much tbh, on ocuk its 250 lol, but if your willing to put the time into to post then people should see your genuine.

Thanks for the answers. I stand corrected. I see that people have thought about this and I do agree that forums in general are about people sharing ideas, thoughts, info etc. and not selling stuff.
I am just too eager to raise some cash in order to buy a couple of lenses that'll really help me get going.

Oh, and thanks for the tip about commneting on images...only problem is that my other half has hardly seen me recently because I'm spending far too long on the 'puter (instead of looking after the little one:baby:)
May be in the dog-house soon!

one one of the bike forums i visit, its 300 posts AND at least 6 months.but ive been a member on there for four years and top 5000 posts. its just a security thing realy.
good luck with ebay.
of course you could always just mention what your selling on ebay. hint.

Thanks for the tip...but I think if I mentioned that I was selling a Lee slotted filter hood with 2 ND polyester filters and a 67mm Wide angle adaptor, an immaculate pair of Nikon High grade 8x32 binos, a Nikon FM film camera with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AIS lens and a Nikon S6 Point and shoot 6 Megpx including 1 gig card and soft case, then I might be in trouble?

Pull the pin:exit:

I am newer than you...

80 posts to go.:D

79 posts to go.:D:D

Now I am getting silly.

Hiya Wildtracks!

If I haven't said so the WELCOME TO TPF!!

Another thing you can do is to welcome other new folks and take time to comment on their pix - oops this last part has been said...:bonk:

Bottom line is (and I'm sure you have seen this by now) we are a community and look out for each other...

Remember how you felt when the welcome messages rolled in the first time you said hello?

You can help others to feel as welcome and make this place even better!!

Oh we have a few nuts but that is what makes life interesting:D

Do that and before you know it you will hit 500 posts.

Happy chatting:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Thanks guys. I am in no hurry now. Ebay is doing fine and I shall just enjoy posting at a leisurely rate.

I do like the comment about making others feel welcome though. It really shows more that it actually says.

Actually I didn't post a hello intro post when I joined, perhaps I should have?

I'm starting to feel warm and cosy already...;)

sbowler

57 and counting...

Hey look, I reached 100. Now I'm allowed in the pub - is that right?

Well, not quite just yet.

One of the big guys will now allow you one beer per day.

At 250 you can enter the bar as a guest accompanied by one of the grownups...:bonk::lol:

:thumbs::D
