I may have posted this in the wrong place so feel free to move it mods but......

I bought my 400d if i am honest for the most part to try and get some nice shots when I am diving. But after whittling away what i did have towards the housing and spending hours led on the floor yesterday afternoon trying to get a decent picture of a frog. I also seem to have developed a thought process along the lines of if i had this lens/gadget i could try this or that. With very little thought to what i saw originally as was my ultimate goal. Only stopping to think can i afford this with the answer being normally not. I had always enjoyed taking snapshots on land but after trying to photograph frogs and actually enjoying it.

I have come to the conclusion that i am hooked on the hobby at what point did the flash bulb flash for everyone here and they realised that they were hooked and destined to be broke for eternity.

When I was about 10....I used to take a camera out everyday with me on my paper round doing street photography....

Here I am collecting my paper round bag with camera in hand, in about 1984...and oddly enough, I still wear a calculator watch for a laugh.

My dad has had a few descent SLRs, he didn't really use them, so I did when I was younger. Must have started when I was like 8 or something.

I remember using this really old Russian camera (must have been decades old), and then an Olympus OM20.

Used to take random photos of flowers and insects, and other things you take photos of when your really young. Also did some photography in secondary school (like year 7) and loved it, had a darkroom at my school so we used to develop our own photos and stuff.

I kinda put the camera down for a few years and picked it up again not too long ago.

LOL - that's a proper sweet shop there Pete!

I had my first camera when I was about 6 - it was a present from my Aunt and Uncle and it would probably have to go down as one of the best presents I was ever given! The expense only really kicked in when I got my first SLR camera though - that would have been thre winter of 2004 I think. In May 2005 I bought my second hand D30, a year later Canon released the 30D and I got suckered into the world of new & shiny toys.....!

I didn't have much of a wish-list for a while, but now I'm hovering around the idea of (a while away yet) either the 300 f4 L, or the 400 f5.6 L, or maybe the 100-400 L......Hmmmmm. Then the laptop needs replacing, and long term I'm leaning towards a 1 series body.....*sighs*

My first slr camera was the Zenith E, then the EM back in the last century 1975 but had a kodak Pocket Instamatic in about 1972 it was great. Long thin and took 110 cartridge film and magicube flash bulbs. how things have changed.

We made pinhole camera's at school in science class, I took a picture of a local church with mine and it came out the best of the class. Thats the point when I thought this is what I want to do.

Yeah, I was about 10 too – in 1962/63 – when I did my first nude model studio shoot: my sister's Barbie doll lit by an incandescent night table lamp in the bath tub (for a horizonless background), with a plastic toy camera, but very real 6x6 B/W film, and my dad's then already ancient Super8 tripod from the early fifties.

Less than a year ago! Ive always taken a camera out with me to everything, nights out, walks, day trips etc. Ive always wanted to look back on my shots and remember what I was doing that day :)

But it really hit home last April, when on Bank Holiday weekend, I went for a picnic with a few friends, one of which was sporting a nice shiny camera, I had no idea what make it was even  She was snapping all afternoon, and I realised this is something I could really get into, the rest as they say is history.

Not long after, I bought myself a Fuji S6500 and havent looked back since. Ive recently upgraded to a 400D, and am hoping for lots of new kit next week for my birthday :D

The lovely lady in question, is infact a member here, and whether she knows it or not, she gave me a little push that day :)

Thanks Kitten ;)

I would say maybe 3 months before new year 2008 :)

Got to get back in to it now because i haven't been out with the camara in so long :(
