Wheel's magic chair

Hey you could have a James Bond changing number plate if you used one of those expensive picture frames.

OOps sorry I meant Ipad.

Now why does that sound so much like something for incontinence. :D

Absolutely, this is OUR project ! Everyone who has contributed anything is part of this project so I am trying to keep everyone informed about the current position.

Once it is on the chair I will get lots of piccies :)

Graham (Flash in the pan) is sending some radio remote to Nikon leads in the post so I MIGHT be able to sort the two buttons for the prototype too.

I'd just like to say what a belting job is being done on this project. One thing that did worry me, I'll admit, as the kitty mounted in size was the impact on Julian of all this kit. I was worried that he'd be handed all the kit, and be left to fathom things for himself. Now, as a full time carer myself, I have a bit of an idea of how much personalisation needs to go into things like this, if the end result is to be a workable solution, and not just an intimidating pile of kit in the corner. Fortunately, and perhaps more cheering to me than the original generosity, it seems Darren (and others) appear to be doing a thorough job of delivering a workable system, and me 'at's off to 'em guv.:clap::clap:

I like the sound of that! iPad - 'for incontinence'

However, I will not state the obvious!

I have had loads of offers of help showing me how to work everything, offers of days out, to people coming here and showing me stuff. Darren has said he is going to spend a couple of YEARS getting me acustomed to the gear.
But I agree Hats of to Rob & Darren for running this, and same hats off to you all who have and are continuing to help me and Nattelie.

Another donation has arrived:

Iconoble kindly donated a ND4 filter and the book "Digital photography masterclass" handed to me at the model meet on Thursday

Oh and the new power socket has arrived in the post this morning. Just packed my de-soldering station, soldering iron etc etc into a box ready to take along on Monday and fix the laptop.

Oh and we have had an offer to buy you a battery if the repair is possible so you should be back up and running. I will look at the configuration/memory etc whilst I am at it.

Julian, the socket was under £4 and is paid for. The person buying the battery works for Acer :)

Well done Darren! You are a star! Enjoy your take away!

We went to Darren & Helens today and spent a good couple of hours talking over the gear Im getting, Mrs Wheels (Lynn) on the way home said half of what was said she had no idea, I said to her she had a quarter more of an idea than I had.

He was explaining about this remote button (THING) we can set the camera up on the tripod someone has kindly donated, in the house with the camera pointing at the bird table or bird boxes and trail a wire from the camera to the tv or monitor that I have for my chair, and as soon as I see something on the bird table I press this remote and it takes the photo without me having to turn around and whizz across to the camera. The other stuff he was telling me, all sounds superb, and we were chatting about project 2(Nats) its going to be so much better for her as well I am excited for her as I am for myself.

Darren and Helen spent 2 hours trying to convert myself and Lynn to Apple products, on the way home coming down the M6 Lynn said they sound a lot better that this crappy pc that bluescreens every hour. So I showed her pcworlds website, she changed her mind once she saw the price lol

The pull is strong to the dark side :rules:

Once You've had Mac, You Aint goin' back!

I used to have a mac for work about ten years ago, since then I have worked for PC vendors and they prefer it if you use their kit ;) so I did go back, I do have an iPod touch though:cool: and the kids are on the dark side...

WOOPS..... I posted a couple of days ago that I had made a mistake with Excel BUT what has actually happened is that the original collection for Wheels came in SO quickly that Rob Arkady accidentally included £250 that was paid to HIM for something he was selling on Ebay. Therefore the original collection was actually £250 LESS than we thought. As I have been spending it as quickly as it came in this has now caused us to be short. There have been some really nice donations today which I am grateful for but there have been a few promised donations that have not arrived yet so if anyone was going to donate then the paypal address is on post 1.

Thank you all for your wonderful generosity it is VERY much appreciated and we WILL sort it......

Cowaslappy

The grip 222 clone went in the post today, sent 1st class so you should have it for 3 weeks on Wednesday if Royal Fail are up to their usual standards. Apparently it will be delayed because the 3 legged donkey has thrown a shoe, He has to go to Winsors for a new one tomorrow.

:D

Cheers, much appreciated. Nearly got the stuff together for Nat's chair too now :)

Darren,

Just found some £££ in my "bet365" account, I had forgotton about. (Mickelson winning the Masters.)

Some of it on it's way to you now....... Not a fortune (given currently looking for a new job) but as a certain supermarket says, "every little helps."

Should be there in next 10 mins.

Lynton

EDIT: No paypal address in Post 1 of this thread!!!!
