Could you guys/girls tell me how far can you push with your camera on rain?
I have a Canon 40D and love to know..... because it looks to me that this summer will be a bit wet:shake:

It's quite interesting this. I've personally seen a few friends using a D50 and I think a 400D on Brighton pier in the middle of winter in high winds while it was raining. Considering the care I take over my gear I was shocked at this. Despite all the sea spray and rain that covered the cameras they still work fine. It's quite incredible what they can put up with especially considering they are the lowest in their manufacturers respective ranges.

I've had my 40D out in torrential rain, day after day and up to now I've not had any issues.

You are a brave man Richard.....
I couldn't bring myself to do this

Well the 40D is pretty well weathersealed, what I don't know is how weatherproof are the lenses? With all their twisty, moving bits, they dont strike me as very waterproof.

Not really, the only seals are on the battery and memory card doors. This is considerably less than bodies such as the 1D series which have full sealing of all buttons and dials as well as superior sealing on the battery and memory card areas.

most L series lenses are weather sealed, but only the 1 series bodies have the rubber gasket that mates against the rubber gasket of the L lenses. i'm not sure how effectively sealed an L lens would be on a non 1 series body. also, some of the L lenses need a filter on the front to be weather sealed.....

i'm not sure how wet i'd like to get a 40D, not very i suspect.
