What's your worst or not used purchase

Worst purchase possibly the small crumpler muffin top 3000, I needed a bag for a holiday 6 days after I bought the camera, in to John Lewis £45 later I had a bag. During the holiday bought a 580EX2 and a 50mm 1.8 and the bag was full, within a month of getting back from holiday spent some more cash on the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 IS so needed a new bag pretty quickly. The 3000 does still get used it holds my flash guns now.

I always try to justify my spending before doing it so rarely make mistakes, rushed purchases are where I screw up.

Its not suitable for what I do... I guess the clue should have been that you never see them being used at the track.
 
The camera bean bag I bought has never been used. The monopod has only ever been used once.

As far as lenses go, my 18-135mm Nikon lens has had the least amount of use by far, hardly ever used it, which is a shame considering how sharp it is.

Slingshot 200.

Great if you just want to be able to get the camera with its attached lens out quickly but not so convenient when you want to swap lenses. May as well have a backpack and get te camera out before you start wandering around, so I did - MiniTrekker which holds as much kit as I want to carry, including zooms fro 12mm - 300mm and a prime or 2.

Took it to Kenya really as a second body for myself, but in the end the Mrs used it the entire trip

She spent so much time warbling about how much better the 5D MKII is since we got back I have had to dump the 7d and splash on a 5D MKII and 24-105 for her now, so the 7D just cost me best part of £2500! just to keep the Mrs happy!

bought 2 flashes never use the other one just stayed on my bag.
 
Panasonic G1 that very quickly turned into a money pit, it just didn't live up to expectations and even with the Leica macro the IQ wasn't up to more than mild cropping.
Chopped it all in for my 500D outfit last week and haven't regretted it, hello IQ and heavy cropping.
Proof the you should never throw money at a problem, just throw the problem.

Least used has been every kit lens bar 1 (nikon FM +50mm) that I have ever had.
I'm now a firm convert to just buying a body and separate lens of my choice.

Leica M6 TTL - already had a older M6 and the 'TTL' was just for the dedicated flash, which was a bit rubbish.
Sold it for £100 more than I paid for it, so that was OK.

Pentax 6x7 kit.
Camera and lenses were fine - did exactly what it said on the tin...but the advent of digital kicked MF into touch for me. Not been used since I picked up a D1x.
Currently on loan to another TP member as it's hardly worth selling it...
 
A Canonet QL19 rangefinder. Lovely little thing, clean as a whistle, ran as smooth as cream while I dry-tested it over a couple of days. Put a film in it, and shot the first 14 frames perfectly, sharp as a tack, clear as a virgin's conscience. Then the shutter seized solid and i've been unable to get it going since. Annoying thing was how well the first 14 shots came out :(
 
every super cheap gadget accessory you buy for camera. I think the worst one I've bought was a soft diffuser for external flash that goes on the flash itself.
 
Every Camera Bag I have ever bought! I have always wanted a Billingham 550 but could never afford it, however if I add up all the money spent on the bags I do have that just lie around empty, I probably could have bought 3 of the damn things.

Heres to my Crumpler Opulent rooster, Kata HB 205, Lowepro Primus AW (actually love this bag, but can't fit my D3 in it :(), Slingshot 300, Lowepro Classified 250AW and Crumpler Pretty Boy XL.

Actually the worst one for me was the Think Tank rotation 360. Amazing idea, but was too heavy and too small. A bag for professionals it said, well unless you have a professional camera and lenses, because they don't fit!
 
Canon 7D, just checked bought June 19. Haven't opened the box yet.
Must admit bought BG E7 on 14 July and have looked at it !
Have to get both out this week and bolt together. (Maybe)

For me, it has to be the 50mm F/1.8. I bought one years ago because it was cheap, then sold it as I didn't use it. I then bought an FM2n and a 50mm again thinking I'd give it another chance. There is just something about the 50mm focal length that doesn't work for me. I find it neither wide enough or long enough no matter what I shoot. I never use that length on my 24-70 either. Maybe I am just odd :cuckoo:, but for me the 50mm was my most unused bit of kit.

used it once and not for camera purposes, should really sell but love it for some reason, hmmmmm :thinking:
 
Monopod and Tripod, i only really used the monopod for football which i haven't done any for 2 seasons, and the tripod, which i only use for landscapes and multi shots, having said that i did some multi shots for someone 2 weeks ago, but it's not really used a lot, i don't think i would get rid of either though, as i'm sure if i did i would need it the next day :D
 
Am yet to buy anything for my photography that wasn't worth it, but I guess I don't use my ND filters much.
 
a cheap Velbon tripod

absolutely useless, so rubbish and plastic that it simply serves to induce less stability into a shot that hand holding!

not to mention that fact that the extending centre column broke within 2mins of getting it.

i keep meaning to throw it away but it;ll probably come in handy one day for holding an external flash or something!
 
for me it's the Colkin filters I've bought, hardly ever use them :)
 
For me, has to be the off camera flash cable, never used it, now have wireless trigger, so not likely to be used at all, even if I could find it :D
 
For me it has to be the Lowepro Pro Trekker II - the bag size is absolutely monstrous. I got it to hold some large lenses not to bloody well smuggle illegal immigrants into the country; its that big.

In the end its now just lying in the attic gathering dust, I replaced it with a Lowepro AW400 Pro Trekker that is pretty much perfect for my needs.

It's sat on my desk as I type gathering dust!

I convinceed a work college to buy one of them and her's is in her desk used once!

I had that experience with the Tamrac 8X. It was so big and cumbersome it looked like I was off on a hike up Mount Everest and fully loaded it felt like I was carrying a dead body. Been there and done that with the photo frame as well, £80 quid waste of money. I bought an LCD pop up shade from ebay for my 1000D and forgot it was there and nearly poked my eye out.

Bronica 110mm macro lens for almost £1200!

About 3 months after buying it I went digital, immediately stopped using medium format and probably never took more than 100 photos with it.

I might even still have it in the back of a cupboard somewhere but sold all my Bronica bodies :bonk:
 
A Sigma 24-70 EX DG Macro... it was softer than a marshmallow!
 
A cheap eBay polariser that was given to me, tried it once and that was that. Oddly enough its still in the bag though. :D
 
Sigma 28-300mm lens. Bought it not long after getting the camera thinking 'why else would I need another lens with that focal range'.
Used it a couple of times, realised it couldn't AF properly 10 times out of 10 and its not been used since. Luckly only payed about £80 for it.
 
Gorillapod original for my compact - I'm sure it had brewers droop. Tamrac Velocity 6x -definately not suitable for women, across the chest strap is a no no. Velbon CX mini tripod - just what can you use it for? -too tall for tabletop, too short for anything else. Manfrotto 3 way head for my 190XB pro - by the time I've worked out all the knobs the subject has left.:bang:
 
Nikon APS SLR, bought 2nd hand on fleabay on a whim, and never used. Anyone who wants it and prepared to collect it can have it, with a couple of lenses!
 
Most useless piece of photographic equipment must be the fully auto setting?

Mine is the infa red Canon remote. No idea why I bought it.
