Yes
Mine is being too close and zooming at times.
I like close crop style, but feel i would increase keeper rate if i just 'stepped back a bit' and cropped in PP if required.
This is a bad habit and using my 35mm more is helping (a bit)

Yeah, i hear ya :) ....and hands for my baby portaits....
I go into a different mode when taking pics of the eldest running around. Its rapid fire and i often forget basics like keeping shutter speed up (really bad and so basic)....like today at the park....200mm and shutter 1/80th - ermm nope... :(
I am more 'organised' and in a slower thought mode for the youngest (6 months)

Always seeming to end up on 2.8, a slave to forever trying to blow out backgrounds, lazy eyes in portraits...Oh and the zoom too tight thing too!

I've been told that I'm guilty of cropping in too close with portraits....really trying to rid myself of this bad habit!

Janet

I'm on 1.8 loads...makes it kind of tricky to get both eyes unless its straight on :) but i still do it loads....tbh if the nearest is pin sharp and furthest us a little out it doesnt bother me that much....lot of times you can get away with it (imo) ;)

Obsession with good light. If the light isn't perfect I know the shot will never be.

Field of view!

Cutting people's feet of when doing full length portraits.

Yep,me to,
Glasses make it hard to get close to viewfinder.

As some one else said,I am used to landscape,so when a little action shot is taken,it is slightly blurred.:(

Going to select a lesser used function on the camera and staring blankly at all the dials and buttons and for the life of me not remembering how the hell you do it. ( it's an age thing and it's getting disturbingly more frequent these days ,lol)

LMAO.....I would admit to doing the same but seeing as i shoot quite a bit of film, I'm expected to know what i'm doing!!!:D :D :D

I am going through a light obsession also. I am taking a few technically strong pics, but very very duuullll :(
I reckon sometimes i think way too much about it, maybe ok for landscapes but not for the kids - i am having a high 'bin rate'....some days you just feel that it aint gonna happen...away to change technique slightly and give backbutton focus a whirl...maybe give it a week or so (blame my tools basically :) )

Whats your guys thought plain?
Me:
Rough look for light source (useful clouds? Etc)
Check aperture (like wide if conditions/background are playing - with the 35 its rude not to)
Shutter plenty quick for length and subject mov?
Adjust iso as req.
W/b norm auto tbh unless extremes/snow etc
Focus and recompose (normally wayyy too close and all the above has been in vain :)

Seriously though all that takes time :(

...and another thing today i went back to the dof preview button (d90)
I still dont see the point if i'm honest. I am now thinking it might be more of a thing on full frame (and not showing its best on dx) - apart from at the aperture extremes and say f22 darkening the view finder...it doesnt show me the dof which is what i expected rather than just the amount of light (which is useful in a way - sort of)....but anyway thats off topic...

trying to take pics in anything less than perfect conditions

trying to do too much and forgetting to check the basics :(
I've ruined many a shot by concentrating on one little bit and not noticing something major like the sky is blown out

I dont have any weak points Im perfect :lol::lol:

well I guess photography is my weak point- I can't stop doing it

Les :D

I rush in, snap loads of pics then after the moment has gone, look at the bad composition of my photos :D

Forgetting to check my set up before snapping away at a photo opertunity and not checking the first few pictures, until later and hence vastly decreasing my keep rate.

Also quilty of seeing the shoot I wanted on review but it being about half a frame away from what I shot.

Have also been known to make a quick snap purchase with regard to equipment as well.

pixel peeping. i'm not as bad as i once was, and getting frustrated and when i have a photograph in my mind, but it can't be realised, either because the light isn't right or some other reason that i can't control.

I am rubbish at compersition and run out of ideas very quickly, I use shutter priority for moving subjects and apeture prioirty for all the still stuff but, but still get very confused with my DOF and stuff like that and end up switching back to auto and using Elements to sort it all out.

Not taking enough photographs.....

Forgeting to check i've set all my settings right before taking a photo....duh

Taking way too many pics and also finding it hard to press the delete button on the non keepers :bang:

Bad composition then trying to save it by cropping:)

flash photogrpahy... read it all , tried it all.. still can't get it right.. so tend to use it as little as possible :( and when I do.. its all auto ..

Too much reading and not enough doing. Never seem to get my camera out the bag these days, becoming a bit of an armchair expert:(

Spending too much time reading everything photography ( except the manuals) and not enough time pressing shutter release buttons!

I find its my knee's

Maybe that's why all my horizons aren't straight :D
