looking through there are loooooads of photography apps, most of them do the same thing or can be easily done on photoshop within 5 minutes but some of them are actually useful or fun... So, i want to know which one is your favourite? and why maybe?

ill start... its called strip designer, by vivid apps, its pretty cool, you just make comic strips and stuff using the bubbles and frames that they have. You can use the gps to go into the maps, and include where you are in the strip and also use effects on each different picture. You can include text too.

Its a realllllly fun app to use (especially in lectures!) even if you only put them on facebook :) the downside is it is £1.79... but i would definitely say its worth it

hopefully i will be able to get some good new apps instead of just the same old effects over and over.

I've got loads of apps for adjusting photos! The most powerful one I have is FX Photo Studio. It gives you dozens of ways to adjust photos; basic stuff like crop, straighten, gamma, saturation / brightness / contrast, as well as loads of filters like grunge, vintage, retro, borders, film styles, distortion, blur, tilt shift... tons of things really. The good thing is that these filters can be layered on top of each other, and also that you can save combinations of filters as a preset to apply to other images too. Here's a link to the app store to check it out. I think there's a third off the normal price this weekend

Again another vote for PS Express from me for editing but if I just want a quick edit, bit of fun I find the Best Camera app to be very good.

Sundroid, cost about £1, gives sunrise/sunset, moonphase/rise-set, great for knowing when the moon is at its largest near the horizon and in what shape according to it's phase etc.

Appetite

Just got an iPhone4 yesterday so I'll check this thread with interest.

I use the Photographer Ephemeris on desktop and it's very handy. I think I'll get it for the iphone too. http://photoephemeris.com/

TP forum of course!
I dont really use the photographic ones but do have retro camera, instagram8mm and PS Express.
I generally use no photographic apps, the top ones being;

Booking.com for hotels when I'm on the road, saves messing around.
Redlaser to assist when bartering to price check.
Shazam as I always hear a song and want to know what its called then buy it.
Goodreader for files on the move.
ApBox Pro for a good selection of tools.
Skype.

i've just gotten a samsung galaxy and have the free retro camera app, a dof calculator and ps express.

the retro camera one is a little cracker and will be upgraded to the full version soon i reckon. the file size is a bit too small for my liking though, but for something from my phone it's not worth complaining about to be honest

If we're talking about fun, although with very little useful functionality, did anyone check out the Muybridgizer App that Tate Britain brought out for the retrospective show of Muybridges work?

It let you make your own 'moving image' series, like Muybridge did when he was investigating how horses and people, etc. actually move. I think you could then post your creations online - obviously some people were more creative than others, but worth a look.

Plus it's free :)

Hipstamatic app and panoramic 360 for me!

For the LOLs I like Old Booth, I've entertained many a group of friends with that app!

For me it has to be DSLR Camera Remote http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/dslr-camera-remote/

Control your Canon or Nikon DSLR from iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

  • Two versions available: DSLR Camera Remote HD for iPad; DSLR Camera Remote for iPhone and iPod touch.
  • Remotely fire & control your Canon or Nikon DSLR from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
  • Includes an intervalometer and auto-bracketing for HDR photographers.
  • Start, stop and monitor video on supported HD DSLR cameras

I like the IDEA of this app, although I haven't been able to produce anything interesting with it yet!

"lenses" is another good one with lots of different effects, you can have 3 effects and the original on the screen too, so you can choose your 3 favourites and keep them on the screen when you open the app

My photography iPhone apps currently are:

- PictureShow (Favourite)
- The Photographers Ephemeris (Useful, although not used a great deal)
- 360 Panorama (Fantastic App!)
- Longtime (ND Shutter Speed Calculations)
- Camerabag (Prefer PicturesShow)
- Best Camera (Prefer PictureShow)
- PS Express
- MetaBrowser
- TwoViewApp (Professional Photographer/Photography Monthly Mag App)
