What's your beer of choice when you're at home?

£1.85 a pint - are you Dr Who?:)

Next time you go out for a pint, give me a ring so I can get a lift in your tardis.
It is nearly £4 a pint down here in Kent for ordinary beer.

i thought he had made a mistake at first when the barman charged me £1.85....but yes, there was about 6 guest ales on and all £1.85 a pint

I'm just a beer whore and go with whatever is new into the stores around here, and with us being the only private alcohol Province, we get a lot of new beers weekly. But, I am still partial to my English ales, and will pick up Sam Smiths, Harviestoun, Fullers & Timothy Taylor when new, fresh stock arrives.

Another vote for Innes & Gunn, but I'm always partial to a Brains Reverend James.

Harviestoun is a Scots ale made about 4 miles away from me:D

You lucky sod!! My local breweries aren't even in the same ballpark.

I do really like Harviestoun. Sadly though fresh product here is hard to come by; there are bottles of Schiehallion sitting on shelves with a BB date of Feb 2014!!

I did manage to get hold of 4 bottles of the new Glenfarclas whisky barrel aged lager they did a few months back. It wasn't imported into Canada, so George Grant of Glenfarclas, brought 4 bottles to me in Edmonton, AB. Another perk of being an alcohol distributor ;)

We really are spoilt for choice when in comes to beer in Britain. Hard to pick just one out of all the fantastic ales, but Broadside is hard to beat. Either that or Green King IPA.

Not a great photo as it's off my phone, but had this wonderful oak aged, bottle conditioned sour stout from Jolly Pumpkin yesterday. I think it was about 18 months old, too.

It's fruity, sour, roasty, funky, vinegar, vinous, bitter, dry. Just a delight!!

The latest Advert for Gods own nectar refers to it as a Beer.

Therefore there is only one.....

Hear, Hear ^^ ;)

I don't drink as much of it as I used to, but when I'm in the mood there's nowt tastier.

I like ale now and then too - I've tried all the Speckled goose heads, and fox's buttholes and nun's fingers :D ... But for Ale, Smithwicks is as refreshing as any of them.

At 62p a bottle, Franziskaner Weissbier has become my standard crate for nights in. As some other, lesser, weissbiers leave a funny taste if you drink them all evening.

However this week they are selling off various Christmas beers (alc. 5.5%-6%) cheaply (42p/bottle) in my local beer emporium. So I bought a crate of Flötzinger Christmas Beer. With it's politically correct label, showing a naked child drinking beer on the back of a goat.
Just what were they thinking?

Either Scarborough Fair IPA or Against The Grain bitter, both from Wold Top Brewery. I've seen the IPA reviewed favourably alongside regular IPAs and I can understand why. It's a very good brew on its own right.

Far too much going on there, you wouldn't know where to start. Over here the person who designed that label would probably be put in a dark cell for life and the key would be thrown away.:naughty:

I'm not really a beer drinker, but I've just recently started having Brooklyn if it's available

Samuel Adams or Dos Equis when I can source them.
Not a beer fan or snob, just like what I like :-)

quite like Oakham Ales- either Citra or Scarlet Macaw.

Just bought three bottles of Tim Taylor's Landlord for a fiver

Almost any beer by, Batemans, Adnams, Timothy Taylor.

Add on to that Hook Norton and Badger.

I go through phases, American beer isn't too bad (between bitter and lager IMO) but general stick to ales, again range from IPA to stouts with most things in-between.

IMO a nice chilled bottle of newcastle brown ale

Living on France as I do I have to wait until I am back in the old country for a decent beer. Then it is London Pride when I can find it or any of the speciality beers that most supermarkets sell for 3 for £5 . I seem to enjoy all of them which may be a symptom of having to rely on French beer for much of the year.
Have you tried Golden Pride?
Only seen/had it in bottles, and at 8.5% abv a right 'special occasion' tipple!!

i make me own, far better than down the pub.
currently got 60 pints of timothy Taylor in the shed,
also like woodfords nelsons revenge,
I also make me own wine, got 50 bottles of red merlot stored upstairs,
made from the kenridge classic range,
wife likes a strawberry wine, get that from Wilkonson's,

Lovely beer Carlo but a bit strong for a regular tipple ( well, for me it is !).

Oops. And here's me living a mere 2 miles from the Augustiner Brewery and spouting on (above) about other beers. I actually used to live one street away from the brewery! Well in sniffing distance. Mmmmm.
Although I neglected to mention I do tend to keep a crate of Augustiner Edelstoff as a backup. I don't know if you tried Edelstoff when you were in Munich. But it's many people's favourite. And is just a little stronger (5.6%) than the Helles. (5.3%)

Yay... wondered how many posts before someone owned up to home brew! :)

Started myself back in July with Woodforde's kits, Wherry, and Nelsons, with a Sundew started last night. 5 x iBrew wine kits as well as 2 Bulldog ciders for the wife. :D

I got given some Speckled Hen in cans over Christmas and they were the most disapointing 'pint' I've had for a long while.....

The Wherry is lovely, in every way.. possibly even more so as I made it..

done a few wherrys when I started, found it a bit bland, so played around and tweaked it a bit.
now in to extract brewing, would like to try all grain brewing, works out about 25p a pint.
going to go on a 1 day brewing course, so I have all the info,
im honestly not an alchy I do get up everyday at 6.30 and go to work,
as well as looking after 6 tortoises, 2 Bengal leopard cats, an allotment, go scuba diving twice a year,
oh and me photography, no wonder I need a drink. LOL.
