What is your favourite lens out of current and previously owned lenses? And why do you love it?

I don't have a huge variety of lenses yet, however I am loving my 50mm 1.8 its sharp and the dof you get is amazing.
I am currently considering getting the new 1.4 version due to my new love affair......don't tell the wife:nuts:

24-105L - a great all round lens for the 5D . . .

My Tamron 17-50 f2.8. Or my 80-200 f2.8 or my nifty fifty. Or my 60mm macro lens. Oh, I don't know! They're all bloody great!

Thanks for the reply , why do you love them so much???
Spill we are all friends here.......:suspect:

I do a lot of walking, and the 24-105 is wide enough to enable me to take landscape shots, and also has just enough reach to shoot some wildlife.
I can leave the 17-40 and the 70-200 at home, meaning less weight to carry, and less chance of dust getting onto the sensor due to lens changes in the open . . . .

The 70-200 f2.8 IS is on my camera pretty much all the time, and I really enjoy using it, I'm getting better sharper pics with this that I like. The 10-20 is great fun but I don't use it a lot as most of the stuff I do is a distance from me! The others have their place but are used as and when rather than most of the time.

Probably most impressed with the 50mm 1.8

But my favourite is the 28-135 IS no question.

To me, the image quality is excellent, its a well built mid range lens, and the focal range covers plenty. The IS comes in very useful too. I think its a great multi purpose lens.

Would like a wide angle at some point. Just bought a 28mm 2.8 prime off here which I'll be interested to see how that shapes up.

The EF-S 55-250 IS is my most used and preferred lens. To my eye I get good results with it and the range suits nicely.

For me, it is my 500 f/4. Over half my "keepers" this year were with this lens. We understand each other and I know what I am going to get before I press the shutter. It might sound odd, but I know that as long as I don't mess up, the lens will nail the shot.

My Nikon 17-55 i would say as a great walkabout/landscape lens for me

but motorsport i love the Sigma 120-300

It's a tie between my Sigma 17-70mm 2.8 or my Sigma 10-20mm. I've been using the 17-70 more lately so I'm going to go with that.

EF70-200F2.8L a great lens for motorsport and portraits, I also took some good landscape shots on it at the weekend. It is my go to lens and stays on the body most the time.

its a toss up between the 10-20 and the 70-200f4, but then again their my only two good lenses :D

Either my 17-55 f/2.8 or 70-200 VR, both are just nice handling lenses with quality glass. The 80-200 f/2.8 was excellent too, the lack of AF was it's only failing for me.

all except the 17-85 kit lens. they been bought for there purpose and work wonderfully:thumbs:

I favour my Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens. It's on my camera most of the time, is really sharp and has a great DOF.

Mine is the Canon 300mm f2.8L IS.

Simply stunning detail, bokeh, sharpness and contrast/tones. Really really consider myself lucky to own one :)

Canon 24-105 L. Use it for just about everything and it is a peach. IS helps and good reach as well.

Nikon's 12-24 I'd say, though I have a fondness for a few others

Just bought a 10.5mm fisheye (and before anyone says you'll soon get bored of the effect, my DxO straightens it brilliantly should I wish), so I'm hoping to find I love this one too - though I expect to get wet n muddy using it

70-200mm f2.8 ... lives on my 5D ... unless DF swipes it!

I always preferred my fixed lenses until I got the above , I love its versatility, clarity, & bokeh, and if I could only have one lens, this would be it.

Olympus 12-60SWD lens, sharp, weather proof just a great lens.

Nikon 85mm f1.4 Ais, 16mm Ais and 14mmAFD (all used on film), sharp, ace contrast great bokeh (well on the 85mm anyway :D)

Either Minolta 35/1.4 G or the Canon 35/1.4 L

I've got my most favourite photos with these lenses.

For longer stuff, either the Canon 85/1.2 or the Sony CZ 135/1.8

My fave lens, well, really don't know, but my most used lens is my 24-70 f2.8.
However, my 70-200 F4L is so sharp, and just so easy to use

Nikon 50mm 1.4 and my 24-70mm 2.8 that ive just bought today.

Suppose it would be the nifty, but i do like the 18-70mm, But i do wish it had a little more reach for general walking around.

Rob.

My favourite lens is the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. Why Canon haven't released a full frame version, I don't know, but I feel it's sorely missing from the line.

Great focal length range, relatively fast all the way through, sharp as sharp things, fast to focus and the IS works well in low light.

If i had to choose one I think it would be my 24-70 f2.8L for now.

but am thinking of getting a 85mm f1.2L so maybe it will take 2nd place.

Another for the 24-105mm f4. It's only weakness is the f4 in low light. Great all round lens though and fab in the studio too.

Also a vote for the 100mm macro. On full frame it makes a very tidy portrait lens as well as blindingly good macro.

out of my current lenses its the 150mm Macro

Great Macro
great short telephoto Prime
can be used as a portrait lens as well.

Nikon nifty and my Siggy 24-60mm. I love how sharp they both are.

70-200mm f2.8 is my favourite, but the most used currently is 24-70 f2.8
