What's wrong with manual focus?

How do you think children or even sports photographers managed in the 60's for instance?

we are not in the 60's and we have AF so why bother with MF.

My friend told me that you can never get the focus accurately but I don't believe so.

I find manual focusing a real pain without a split prism. Then again my eyes are going all wonky and I have trouble telling what is in focus anyway! Can you get split prism eyepieces as addons?

Because you have a high quality MF lens and don't wish to spend a fortune replacing it.

e.g.

Ai-S ED 500mm f/4 P approx £1200

500mm f4 ED VR AF-S Usually over £5000

Now if you have a spare 5k then fine but many people get great shots from the older kit
