I'd like to take the wife away for her birthday, but she'd prefer somewhere a little milder than here. Anyone have seasonally useful experience?

Thanks

January and February can feel pretty chilly, but you'll see sun. Doesn't tend to rain too much either. You're better off waiting a month and going during Les Falles.

Thanks, but I can't move her b'day, so Feb it will have to be.

You'll get more sunshine in Sevilla, which is a more interesting city. That said, I do really like Valencia and have been many times.

Thanks. We went to Sevilla in 2015, but it's just that bit further on the plane - trying to contain the journey time. Barcelona was the other choice, but I think Valencia will be slightly milder & less touristy.

Give her a little bit of excitement in life. Take her to Barcelona.

It can be chilly in the mornings in January but does warm up later.

Is that from a comparison between the two, or just from visiting Barcelona (I've been there before, but not Valencia)?

Compared to the check in and security time at the airports both ends, the extra few minutes on the plane are relatively negligible (unless either of you has a real fear of flying in which case a trip in the car would be a better idea!). Take a tablet (as in mini computer thingy rather than a pill...) and watch a film to pass the time.

The further south you go, the warmer it tends to be, so Valencia may well be a tiny bit warmer than Barcelona. Definitely fewer tourist too in February. As I mentioned before, March is Valencia's big month.

It's damn cold here at the moment I can assure you! You can get some lovely warm days in Feb or it can be freezing - You never can tell. Based on the weather so far this year, where my neighbours have seen snow for the first time in 20 years and where our dried up river bed has significantly flowed four times in the last 18 months..... Who knows. Whatever, bring something warm.... they had snow in Benidorm last week and I bet the Brits in their shorts and flip flops were freezing :)

Thanks - we've ended up staying in the UK after all.

Thanks guys, i just cant wait now. Are sucurity ok with going early morning or after sun down? Any other info woukd be helpful. What sort of focal ranfe is required seeing as the verticals all look fine.

There are no problems with security at all, unless you try to access the upper level of the science museum. The stair access has been roped off for a long time now, but I just had to get up there to take that pic.

Thanks for reposting these, Ricardo. Reenjoying them!

And not a celestial body in sight!!! ;)

Im asuming you werent using an ultra wide angle as there is no distortions, my 14-24 would show distortions i think.

Try a Sigma 12-24 if you're wanting to avoid distortions - extremely well corrected for rectilinear distortion, although (as the laws of physics dictate!) perspective is fairly exaggerated!

looks like a wet week ahead here. what are the chances of that rain continuing beyond next weekend?
