I do loads of gig pics, and if I take pics of drummers I like to get a bit of blur in the sticks...this ones got me stumped.
Notice the alternate red / blue rendering of the blurred sticks. They were standard wooden sticks.
Red and Blue being the extreme ends of the visible spectrum, I like to think its some sort of optical phenomenon...possible related to the LED lighting?

Almost certainly as you suspect. The drum heads are purple from being lit by alternate flashes of red and blue LEDs, as captured by the camera. I'd guess at a SS of about 1/30th.

1/120 sec (f3.5 iso 3200) Bigger shows tend to use mixed lighting. If it's all LED I run into "Banding" issues and it's not really possible to pin down the guilty shutter speed.

I think it looks great but I bet if you wanted to create that effect... you couldn't :D
