they are the 19mm plain glass screw in ones?

From the 1989/90 product guide, for Camera FM-2 Ordering code FXA10066 Neutral glass

They are 19mm and googling for 19mm Nikon eyepiece will probably get you the most hits the size is I believe the same on all Nikon manual focous cameras although the aforementioned cataloger lists a different number for the F3 there are some exceptions only with high yepoint finders.
 
Brill, thanks thats pretty much what I was seeing its a 19mm thread.
just need to find some a bit cheap now.

Last time i was on the hunt for these, it took a while to find cheap ish ......some daft prices were being asked.

As for un screwing themselves from the body .....Gotta agree i tend to check mine quite regularly when out and about with a camera as I've had them decide to detach themselves without human aid!

The one time that I have had one drop off someone saw it rolling away thankfully. Given the price of replacements maybe a tiny amount of thread lock when fitting is worth thinking about?

Very expensive for what they are and after losing the first one from my F3 all mine have been refitted with a very small dab of thread lock low strength and not a problem since.
 
Had a thought about this at the weekend. The Fuji X cameras use the same eyepiece dioptre lenses as Nikon so the standard ones should also fit Nikon cameras. I think the Fuji adjustments are more expensive than Nikon but it might give you a more recent camera model to look for pattern parts.
 
I ended up getting a selection all not cheap to be honest.
new one in box from amazon £16 and a few used for £12.

I have one of those on my FE2, but I can't open and close the film back with it on as it gets in the way. Is it normal to have to unscrew it to open the back, or is my camera bent out of shape?!

You've probably just got one that's meant for a different model. There are a few varieties that fit the same screw thread but they're different externally, eg between Nikkormat/F2/FE series/standard non-HP F3 (I think) etc.

Does yours have the rubber eye cup attached?

The one I bought for an FE was the same. I had to file a flat on it in order to open the back.

I think it sounds like one for the F or F2 the peephole is much higher so more clearance.
