I'd say Fractalius is the new HDR/Photomatix.Not really sure what I would say is the current in thing, last year it was definately HDR
Colour on film, especially large and medium format. b/w will always be around ... colour's where it at right now.
bit controversial but personally ive found the in thing is to be a better photoshopper than photographer! laziness! if in doubt run it through a plug in like fractalius and make something interesting out of nothing!
that and ultra wide lenses definetely.
I don't think ultra wide lenses are in at all, I bought mine over a year ago and everyone was talking about them then
You've got to make sure your photo have as many bokehs as possible now. At least 4 bokehs to be acceptable.

really? i thought they seemed really popular still!
ok, ill change my answer to the 50mm prime. there just seems to be an explosion of interest in them despite (id imagine) the majority of them being on small sensor dslr, which kinda misses the point of the 50mm focal length in the first place
saying that they are cheap and sharp, and even on crop still a nice focal length, but why werent they this popular a few years ago towards the beginning of the cheap dslr boom?
How about a Tilt-shift macro infra-red Lomo with selectively coloured HDR processing taken at f1.2 with a super slow panning action.
have I missed anything ?

... Sync flash, with purposely blown highlights and of course the final conversion to black and white.![]()
