Whats the difrence?

Check out THIS LINK for Canon prices. I nthink you will see that you can do one heck of a lot better than Jessops price!

I know a good few people use the compatible grips, but bearing in mind the prices above, I'd go the Canon route myself.

On the Canon forums I've seen some "my camera has a problem" threads that end up being diagnosed as issues with the grip. If it's not seated exactly straight on the camera, or if it works slightly loose in use, it can cause errors. I believe non-Canon grips are more prone to this, perhaps because their dimensions and specifications are reverse-engineered and they don't know exactly what tolerances Canon work to. But I'm afraid I don't know how common these issues are.

I think the Canon grips are worth the extra money, but Jessops are a rip off, you can easily get them around or even less than £100 elsewhere.

They are built better, stronger, more comfortable and have a few extra buttons.

As StewartR said, the 3rd party grips are actually prone to errors and the like. I used to have a 3rd party grip on my 400D, and often found that the camera would do something really wierd (like the LCD will just refuse to come on, shutter button will just stop working) so i'd take the grip off, put it back on again and it would work just fine.

Thanks!! :D just seen the canon one on amazon for £70.64 so.. i should just have enough left over to get a nifty fifty out of my change :D
