Excuse my naivety, but what's the difference between the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro and the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG DF?

I'm watching some on eBay, just need to know which one is the better price for what you're getting!?

Cheers.

Not all that familiar with Sigma lenses, but I suspect they are both the same lens. Just described differently.

Sigma currently offers two flavours of 24-70mm zoom:
(1) 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO
(2) 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM

(1) is about £400 new and (2) is £700+.

The main difference is that (2) has HSM, which means focussing will be faster and quieter, plus it has full-time manual focus. The "macro" designation on (1) is meaningless as it's nowhere near a true macro, and in any case they have very similar minimum focussing distances.

According to the Sigma USA web site, "DF" is a feature of (1) and it indicates "a Dual Focus system that is designed to make the lens easy to hold during autofocusing, and yet provides a large focus ring for easy manual focusing".

So I think both the lenses you mentioned may actually be the same one, ie (1). The big difference with (2) is HSM.

Cheers for the help guys.

After a little reseach it appears one is a Aspherical, the other isnt.. maybe.
