Yes
I have spent months planning my new camera, and have decided by process of elimination, and others, that it is going to be a D90. That decision is made and set in stone. Please don't ask for reasons!
Now, the next question. Lens.
I am looking at around £300-£400 for a lens, preferably a zoom.
I used to have a sigma zoom lens, a long time ago, and was very impressed. However, this is a very different era.
I have searched through DP Review, and come to the conclusion that the best choice could be either two lenses, the Nikkor 18-55 VR and Nikkor 55-200 VR, or a single lens such as an 18-200. The latter choice is really between Sigma OS, Nikkor VR or the Tamron. The Nikkor is a trifle expensive to fit in my price bracket, and I am just unable to decide between the three.
The use it would be put to is general everyday photography, but I am very keen on macro, especially flowers ( when the rain stops!) I also like scenery both backlit, and full light. I also like quite a bit of wildlife photography, so equipment has to be good.
My current camera was to replace stolen equipment, and was a stopgap pending the decision as to which DSLR to purchase. It is a Kodak P850. A good camera, but nowhere near up to the demands I make of it.
As you can see, nothing specific, just all round. However, it would be ridiculous to get a cheap lens on a camera like a D90, so it must do it justice.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there will be lots, but any help you can give would be most welcome!

Id recomend the 24-120 its by far the best lens i bought when i had my d90

You should be able to pick up the Nikon 18-200 VR MKI for around the £350-£375 mark (used - if not cheaper)...

edit: then again you can pick up the D90 with a kit lens... Usually the 18-105mm VR

You may be able to get an Nikon 18-70mm and a Nikon 70-300mmVR for around the £400 mark used....two outstanding lenses which will suit the D90 very well indeed.

Thanks guys for all your input.
I think I will go for the 18-105, and then buy another, more powerful, at a later date.
FYI, I found the D90 and the 18-105VR on Jack of all Games for £689.99.
That is actually cheaper than buying individually or together from Hong Kong ob Ebay!
