Whats on your 2009 photography to do list

Retire from sports stuff- period. sell the long fast glass and have a break as in a holiday.

Get to Mull, increase wildlife photography portfolio.....would love to go pro and there's only one way to do it....practice practice practice!!

I think a meet is on the cards :D

Well there is the obvious goal of taking better pictures so I'm going to try to set myself lots of mini-projects:

- Maybe one per month... more if needs be
- Pick a theme and get creative
- Aim for diversity with the themes
- Pick three best photo's of the month / per theme
- Put them all together in a photo book at the end of the year

... and I also want to make the most out of my Marwell annual pass so lots of trips to the zoo for me :)

buy a macro lens and try and get some good macro shots .. love some of the ones I see on here ...... p.s. but dont telll Dangermouse

Make a real effort to sort out and properly catalogue the thousands of photos I have stored on my computer (and weed out the crap ones)!

Sort out and catalogue the hundreds of photos I've got in boxes in the loft.

Sort out and catalogue the box of photos rescued from my mum's loft after she passed away a few years ago - and try to find out who all the people in the photos are (while I still have relatives left who might know)!

Oh.............and if there is any time left, take some more photos myself.

Some great ideas so far looks like i might bump into some of you on Mull then

Take better pictures than last year, organise a phototrip around Ireland.

Get out and take more pics.

I'll never improve if I don't get more time in with the camera.

The other one i should have said was get to a tp meet after trying a few times already:D

Get some paitence ...... and a comfy chair or pad to sit on.

caught the glimpse of a kingfisher last week but lost patience after 30 miutes as couldnt get a fix of where it went or was. Did get some other good shots but still think about walking away and the "if i waited a bit longer" shot that i missed out on

To hopefully get a Tramper scooter or similar. Then I can finally get out and about properly. Which will me loads more shots from me :D I have taken an important step with my health, so this also hopefully means I'll finally be on the path to recovery, yay!

I would also like some new glass, but I will most likely have to make a choice over the glass or the Tramper. Hard decision, but I think I know which it will be.

I'd also like to work a bit harder, and try and finally get someone to model for me (been let down every time so far with TFCD). I'd also like to try harder at advertising myself in the right places. Out of 3 newspaper ads this year (and they weren't small!) I got not one single enquiry.

got to get my priorities right and get a job ( thats hard enough )

Get my broken leg up to scratch, move back out to the dominican republic and start the dream business up. Never ever ever come back to the uk for extended periods of time

Get my arse in gear and learn more about the elements 6 that I bought, learn about editing, and workflow.

Go to Las Vegas for the Nellis AFB Airshow in November.

Take a picture that I would be so happy with, I would consider entering it for the 2010 TP Calendar.

And learn more about the hobby in which the bug has bitten, and is costing me a fortune lol.

Improve (constantly ;)), work on my PP, finally get that wide angle lens I've been hankering after for a while!

To master my GX-10 and get to a piont where using it and changing/understanding settings is second nature.

To build up a strobist style flash kit and begin to understand and master off camera flash.

To continue to take my camera out as much as possible, shooting as much as possible.

To post more on here than I have been!!

I'm going to be retiring late next year (fingers crossed) :woot: so I am saving all my major photographic aims until then. However, before that happens I would love to get a 16-35mm, f2.8 L, and I also would like an A3 printer as once I have retired............no dosh for toys any more. :(

I had a dream of hitting the road with all my kit, my hubby and TomTom in a nice little camper van, but that seems to be fading a bit, thanks to this credit crunch and fuel prices.

My 2009 list comprises of:

1) Find some inspiration.
2) Find some motivation.
3) Start using all this MF gear I've been blowing my hard earned on.
4) Develop my own films as a result of items 1-3.

It's simple for me...

Improve my skills and produce better pics.

If I can do that, then anything else should come naturally.

Le Mans 24, press at Spa 24, follow the LMS...maybe.

And do some landscape stuff.

Get one, or more  of my shots published (ideally Autosport/MN)
Do some night time landscapes
Shoot more film
Get my website sorted
Tidy up my archive

The last two may still get worked on this year :suspect:

be able to afford a D3 or D700.
get more money out of work I enjoy.
get some better studio kit.
be some where half way done with my current series.

or bottle all of that and try to become a war reporter some where.

Buy some decent lenses (first of which might be arriving this week :))
Be more experimental.
Try and take some decent photographs of something other than motorsport.
Get more work published.

Oh, and win the Renault/MSA competition...we can hope, eh? ;)

I'd say you're in with a fairly good shot at that Jake. I got the application form, but I haven't had enough work published yet. I've got one last chance to enter next year, after that I'll be too old.

for 2009.

Make a proper go of this newpaper oppurtinuty.
Get loads more published. Aimng for 1after every event.
Travel more around the country to more race tracks.
Travel more for better nature and landsacpe picutre.
Become more well known.
Win a competitoin or two. (MSA POTY)
Get a 100-400 L lens.

Most importantly, make my family even prouder of me :)

Good question. I'm happy with the gear I have, but I do need to get more imaginative and just try to learn more by taking more pic's. Also I really have to move away from the mindset I had 25 years ago when I was last involved in the hobby.

I forgot - get my submissions accepted onto Alamy.

Yeah, published is **** hard! Literally, I've had some in my student magazine (a 4 page feature in an award winning publication is OK...) and one in MN in a "photos of the year." I gotta work on it... It's a long shot, but we'll see. And thanks.

I had a very lucky break and managed to get two in Autosport three weeks ago, but that's it. I need to be much more proactive in getting my stuff out there next season, instead of waiting for people to come to me.

just bash people over the head with your shots, email every mag and paper you can think of after every meet, eventually some one will publish you either because they like your work, or they want to shut up and go away.

Get Gig Passes. (Hoping Magazine entries with that . . )
Buy a nifty fifty lens.
Go into part time photography courses.
Work with people who share the same desire and passion as me.
Make my Family and my fella proud.

:)
