Was looking for some flash gels and found this nice, little collection http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Selens-SE..._CameraFlashUnits_JN&hash=item4174e91dfa#shId

Went straight to pics and descriptions, found everything's looking fine, back to top to order - where I see big, red letters: "Doesn't post to Denmark"...

As we're salt of the earth, I clearly couldn't understand why not? and who else are excluded. Except the usual suspects...

Here's the complete postage list from the site:

Postage to: Worldwide

Excludes: Channel Islands, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Scilly Isles, Scottish Highlands, Scottish Islands, Northern Ireland, Africa, Asia, Central America and Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, North America, Oceania, South East Asia, South America, PO Box

So here's the million dollar question: where do they ship to then?

And isn't the "Worldwide" a bit far stretched??

Off to look for other dealers... :D

Looks like England, Wales and Russia... :)

So... England and Wales are outside Europe then? You brits, you! :D

But you may indeed be right about Russia.
Think I'll ask seller, why he just don't mention, what place he wants to sell his cr.. goods to

Russia is half in Europe & half in Asia - both Excluded :D
Arctic & Antarctica may be OK

This is becoming a real pain on eBay for folk like me who live in the Highlands. I've been trying to buy a part for my car but there's only one UK seller on eBay and they won't sell to the Highlands, my only other option is to pay a higher price and buy from Poland or Germany who are happy to sell to me.

It's a case of ebay's stupid postage rules, I have mine setup to exclude most of the further flung reaches simply because it costs too much to post and services there are unreliable. Somehow it allowed a bidder from Russia to buy the last camera I sold!

In the case of avoiding the Highlands it's probably the simple fact that they use a courier, and ebay does not give you the option of specifying different rates to different areas of mainland UK or NI even though the courier will charge you more to ship to such locations. Always worth firing the seller a message in such situations to ask if it's possible.

Well, they specifically mentioned parts of the UK :)

I suppose the UK is technically in Europe...

I have had to point out to a few sellers that the Isle of Wight is only four miles south of Portsmouth and that Royal Mail do actually post things here.

They have usually changed the details to let me buy.

Most annoying of all sellers are Americans who generally will not post outside of the US as it means they have to go to the Post Office. Domestic parcels are picked up by their postmen (and women).

Nothing "technical about it" - just 20 odd miles of wet stuff separates us from our continental Brethern...

Like Hugh says, we who are on the Scottish Mainland are heartily sick of eejits who won't post here for some reason best known to themselves. I challenged it once on eBay and the seller removed the restriction, but I can't see why folks limit their potential buyers this way. The Chinese are perfectly happy to send stuff to us, but not those down south.

As posted above, eBay have maximum postal charges for the category you're selling in, when I sold a DVD box set it wouldn't let me list it unless I applied the postage rate it specified, fine for a single DVD but as the package would be thicker than a large letter it would be £2.60

Post to the highlands is the same , couriers charge more, eBay won't let you apply that charge

as to original question - Antartica seems to count and I would say possibly Greenland! (though I am also guessing that comes under N America)

Pimlico!

Yes as above they are sending via courier who charge more for highlands etc.. You could probably refine your search to Royal Mail postage only which would save you a lot of hassle.

It annoys me that you can not specify postal services to specific countries. I have a exclusion list however i'm happy to send to these countries recorded but ebay do not give you this option.

My exclusion list is: South America, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan Republic, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, South, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Yemen, Mexico, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Ukraine, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde Islands, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of the, Congo, Republic of the, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon Republic, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Reunion, Rwanda, Saint Helena, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Western Sahara, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

The worst country to ship to in my experience is Italy. You would assume that all EU countries would have similar postal services. You would assume wrong, nothing ever gets there!

do a search for honl photo gel filter kits there seems to be quite a few sellers who state they ship world wide

on the other hand they might have done you a favour by not shipping to your country i bought a set a while ago and have never really used em

A few years ago, Lee would send a huge sample set of gels to anyone who asked nicely. Don't think they still do though. (Too small for making lens or big lighting rig gels but fine for speedlights and rear mounted use.)

I know that for shipping purposes, Antarctica falls into Oceania territory.
That's proper shipping though....not postage.

Got a reply from seller today... no explanation, but instead a link to his "other" ebay site with same items?? :D

But got my 20 pieces Selen filterset with a rubber band and a cleaning kit, total $22.
