right now i know what i need. i need to know how and where to get it from ..:thinking:

i need to get a usb cable to link my 1ds to the pc..

now is it called anything special or are they standard .:thinking:

Most digital cameras seem to use the same USB connection....my 1D MKII uses the same cable I got with an old Fuji 1.3mp point and shoot!
 
guessing its mini-USB to USB-A

There are about 5 variants of USB port.
Micro-USB
Mini-USB
USB-B (often used on printers)
USB-A (usual sort for plugging into PCs)
USB-A female (used for USB extenders)
 
I think it will be a standard mini USB but I don't have a 1Ds to be certain.
 
Actually, having said that, I've got some leads that only work with certain things. Namely my Garmin cable doesn't work with anything else, but it does look the same :shrug:
 
I would take the camera to Jessops or somewhere and buy a cable to match. My canon cable is different to my Fuji one!

from my googling, it appears that the 1ds switched from firewire to usb with the Mk III.

David - is yours a Mk III?
