What's in your camera bag?

Ah a willy waving thread?

Depends on what I'm doing.

Usual
Lowepro Computrekker
Canon 50D with 24-105
70-200 f2.8 IS
100-400
50mm f1.4
10-22
2x & 1.4x TC
580Ex2
Plus about 80gb of CF cards, 3 spare batteries, battery charger, hat, notebook, pen, epipen and anti hystermine tablets (allergic child), cleaning cloths, puffer etc etc.

Then depending on needs either a laptop or ipad in the slot.

If I'm lighting outdoors or rigging I've a huge lighting bag with a car rig kit, 2 extra 420 flashguns, brollys, lighting stands, Redsnapper carbon tripod, remote triggers, ST-E2 wireless trigger, flashgun modifiers etc.

Backup kit in a Tamrac expedition 5 is a 400D, 18-55 kit lens, 70-200 f4, 100-400, plus spare cards, batteries etc plus a set of extension tubes.

I totalled it all up new to replace and it's nearly £10k worth of kit (Gulp)

Domke F6 when it's the 24-105, but rarely go out with that combination.
Lowepro Flipside 300 when it's the 100-400 and I'm off to the zoo.
Otherwise, it's the iphone in my pocket.

All is about to change.. G12 will replace the 24-105. So, it'll be nicely worn Domke bag with a G12. A few sundries in there, too - sunglasses, spare cards and batteries, a lens cloth and a few close-up filters.

Ah a willy waving thread?

 That wasn't a sexiest remark was it (as what about the female toggers - as what would they wave :naughty: :$

Did Like it thou as it does seem to be one doesn't it.....

See the sig below for the main gear thats in mine - as it could/does change over time.....

The video with Kai and Lok was awesome, love you're videos and happy New Year to you all your crew! :)

I've got a Lowepro SlingShot 200AW which my camera doesn't really fit in. So, my main 'bag' is a Black Rapid RS-7.

Camera - Canon 1D Mk3 ("ooh 10 FPS the essence of man" Kai )
Lenses - Canon 35mm f/2, Canon 24-105 f/4L, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 (latest one, name is to long to remember)
Flash - Canon 540EZ, used in Manual with RF triggers
Memory - Sandisk Extreme 60Mb/s 8Gb CFs and Extreme 30Mb/s SDs.
Filter - Polariser
Accessories - Hot-shoe cover with spirit level. :D

Really want a Billingham bag, but need a UWA lens first.

I'm up for a bit of waving

My bag is a Think Tank Urban Disguise 50

Main camera is D300s with a smaller back up D5000

Lens collection consists of Nikon 18-70 (soon to be replaced with 17-55 :)) 35 1.8 and a couple of Tamrons, 55-200 and 70-300

CFs are all SanDisk, batteries are all Nikon

Normally only take what I think I need along with the obvious bits, lens cleaning stuff etc.

And a surprisingly often used item in my bag is my Maglite AA torch :)

And a surprisingly often used item in my bag is my Maglite AA torch :)

I have one of those tiny button cell torches which I've slipped into one of the pockets and it's amazing how many times it comes in handy. I also have a larger windup torch in the big lighting bag.

I have a 500d with kit lens, 430 flash, 55 to 250 lens. Just got a lowepro fastpack 200 today. It's great bag

Bag: Lowepro something-or-another 250
Camera: Nikon D300s
Lenses: Tokina 11-16/2.8, Nikon 35/1.8, Nikon 50/1.8, Nikon 70-210/4.
Tripod: Giotto and Redsnapper ballhead.
Accessories: Lee Filters NDs, ND Grads and Big Stopper, B+W ND110, cleaning clothes, timer remote, custom WB lens cap, little P&S canon and some small stock of food.

Also have a Sigma 10-20/4 which lives at home.

To get next? A Nikon 24/2.8, I'm a bit of a lover of primes. Maybe a 70-300VR too.

Sometimes when I want to be inconspicuous, I take whatever I want in a little bag or my rucksack.

I saw one of those in Poundland the other day, it seems like a pretty nifty gadget that can be put on a keychain or zip etc, I'll be buying one in the week on my way back from college because it's a pain looking in my bag on the night shoots :)

Tamrac Adventure Messenger 3

Nikon D300, Nikon 85mm f1.4, Voigtlander 58mm f1.4 and Voigtlander 40mm f2.

lens tissue, Two spare memory cards, spare battery and close up lens for the 40mm, four model relase forms that I have never used and unlikly ever to! :D

The very best fill light/off camera light - especially for macro - is a cheapie LED torch, like these ones from Clas Ohlson...

http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/Product.aspx?id=154378370

then, using either milk bottle plastic or similar, cut out a small fitted cover to diffuse the light. Instant LED cold lighting, and a torch in your bag to boot.

It's fairly easy to overcome any WB issues [I shoot Jpeg mainly] by using custom WB's in mixed lighting [shouldn't we be all doing that anyway?]. Shooting RAW enables you to adjust the tonality after the fact.

- What bag do you use?

Lowepro Vertex 200 for bad weather when I need good protection; a big, heavy bag that's not spacious for accessories bur it carries main equipment well.

Also have a Burton Zoom Pro 28L for snowboarding and when I need a comfy bag for carting lots of stuff around on long hikes. Rear entry makes it a great travel bag.

Walkabout bag is a Kata DR465, a nice little pack for a body, lens and a few bits. Perfect for days out.

- What camera do take with you?

2x Nikon D2X bodies. Old tech but up to ISO 800 it's as good as anything. Really reliable and super tough.

- What lenses do you take with you?

Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 fisheye
Sigma 14mm f/2.8
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8
Nikon 50mm f/1.8
Nikon 85mm f/1.8
Nikon 60mm f/2.8 micro-nikkor
Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR

- What accessories or other items do you put in your bag

2x Nikon SB800
Nikon SB28
Nikon SB24
Elinchrom skyport triggers
x8 screw-in Hoya ND
x4 Cokin ND grad
x2 Cokin ND grad
Gels
4x Nikon EL-EN4a batteries
30x30cm softbox
Konig tripod
Spare iPhone battery
Electrical tape
Lighter
Pen
Camera + flash manuals
Lens cloth
Remote release
11x 4gb Sandisk Extreme III CF cards
USB cable
Clip-on polarised sunglasses

I used my little brothers LED Lego man light and it gave some great results! I'd say LED's are the best way for people to try lighting techniques before they even consider flashguns or studio strobes, it's amazing what you can do with such simple torches :D

I have an old backpack which currently holds:

Nikon D3 (my new love)
Nikon 105mm f/2.8 VR
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G
Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 HSM

2 x YN-560's
Bits and bobs such as RF-602's, Stofens, grey card and Lumiquest softboxes.

My video response was just a spoof, and didn't include any of my regular equipment. (Believe it or not, I don't generally carry the old Voightlander about)

My main day to day camera bag is a Samsonite Trekking Premium DFV 100.

It holds my Pentax K100D with 18-55mm attached plus a Pentax 80-200mm.
also room to keep the Panasonic camcorder in.

A handful of spare batteries, a tabletop tripod and a Hama flexi suction pod (to do videos from inside the car.) I also keep a Traveller Compact Pro tripod with me all the time, but obviously that doesn't fit in the bag.

That's about it.

The rest of my kit is taken as and when it is needed. Just so everybody knows. I DO NOT usually carry around that huge bag, nor the contents as seen in my video.

Loads of modifiers.

In the good old days, I would have all my film cameras slung about me with different films and lenses to cover all the bases.
I was just getting into the concept of digital capture when I had my accident in '98, but it wasn't til three years later that it became commonplace for all press photographers to be fully digital and even then most PJs would stick to using film for long 'away-trips' as the batteries were useless back then.

I would much prefer to still be using Canon cameras and lenses as they're what I grew up with. Sadly, I think Nikon have the dge at the moment and so when the majority of the above listed kit was sold off by one of our photographers when he moved jobs, I had to make a tough choice. He owed me a couple of big favours, so I was able to haggle quite successfully.
The other new kit above was funded by selling-off the four super-telephotos and extenders that I didn't need.
