These 2 light lines appear across every frame on 2 rolls. This is the worst example, the others differ in brightness.

Is it a light leak? or something rubbing across the film in the camera? or a knackered shutter in the lens?

This is a premiere… never saw such thing before!

What camera - and does it have a horizontal shutter blades?

mamiya 6, has a leaf shutter in the lens

Looks like a light leak to me, either in the camera or at processing time...

Does it extend across the frame borders ?

Could it be X-Ray damage? Although with the English signs I'm guessing you didn't have to fly to China for that shot...

hmm well i put a roll of black and white through earlier , half the roll with the same lens and the other half with a different one and it was fine. So maybe something i did in development.

Human error .....ace isn't it?...Not!

If it's any consolation I've been pulling my hair out ( the bit that I have lol) this afternoon wondering why I've had seriously thin negs.
I even exposed a second film and opened a new bottle of developer believing the previous was exhausted ( quite possible as it is old (ish)
Still got thin negs!
Gone round in circles panicing that it's a camera issue but shutter works fine, aperture opens/ coloses correctly etc etc
Eventually figured it's a metering issue .......had the meter set completely wrong and ultimatley underexposed all 36 frames by 3 stops!!!

Talk about schoolboy error!

Anyway, glad to hear that you look to have no issues with your kit, even if you don't know for sure what caused the lines.
I suspect that you're somewhat relieved too!

the same cock-up..........on 2 rolls..??

Well he's apparantley not had a problem with his latest b&w film but it does seem strange to have the same problem on 2 rolls.

i wonder if there was light entry into the developing tank .......lid not fitted correctly or something.

For instance on the patterson tanks, if the funnel insert isn't locked in place properly then light can enter vertically from the top, leaving lines across the frames (L to R or R to L depending on which way up the spiral is inside the tank)

Well mixed feelings really. If it was the camera or lens I could at least get them repaired. As said over two rolls it's seems odd if it was a development issue but the black and white roll I did was fine which would rule out the camera. I might blow a couple more rolls on the cat just to test things a bit more. I just don't want to do something serious and lose the lot. I checked the boarders of the black and white roll and they were all clean. I didn't think to look at the colour negs, just binned them. They're out in the skip now so I'm not rooting through that lot :)

right, well.....I'm swayed towards dodgy film on current evidence
I think that is more likely than 2 consecutive identical light leak processing fuxups.....:)

I don't think it's a light leak through the camera. Most leaks let light through the rear and hence through the film backing, which normally produces a red/orange patch.
