Okay, I accept I'm crap with Direct debits etc.. but in the last few days I've had one letter from Aviva telling me they have been overcharging me for mortgage insurance and will refund me £100 +++ and another from BT broadband giving me three months free plus a refund ... ... Is it just remotely possible that business is starting to get it's own house in order? ... I sincerely hope so ... However, somehow I doubt it, but I live in hope

It's a good feeling isn't it? Yes, I, too, have this life insurance thing with Aviva and they've just informed me of a rebate after having overcharged me for the last few months. And I've recently had 250 quid paid back to me by British Gas after overcharging me on direct debits (but that was in exchange for using their monthly "pay as you go" type plan which works out cheaper for me in the long run).
Seems that this FSA watchdog has been getting onto various companies as they used the recession as an excuse to jack up prices.

I had one from BT for my broadband, I think it was £75. Nice to see though. Glad I got it now because I am leaving them in May! Might never have seen it.

The only thing I get refunded is my electricity, I deliberately keep the monthly payment high so I don't end up having to top it up every year, so instead I get a nice refund.

The only insurances I have are car and house, which I pay outright when they fall due each year. No life or mortgage insurance, although do I have both a life and a mortgage.

Not sure why I would want to insure my life, I'd be too dead to collect!

I know most of you will know this but, just in case, there are a lot of scams circulating in emails. I have had one recently telling me I had a tax refund due. It was a scam. They were just trying to get my bank details. There are also lots pretending to be from banks and building societies etc. Never give bank details or other information in an email to a bank. They will never ask for them like that.
