Yes
We normally don't have any problems with our post but have had two parcels go missing recently and arranged redelivery of a third for Saturday which never turned up
I will be able to get refunds from the sellers but still not good and the sellers will be out of pocket (Amazon and eBay)
Am I just unlucky or has the service got worse since privatisation ?
I have complained to Royal Mail by email they are looking into it
One was a secondhand satnav a Garmin which can take Ordanance survey grid references as well as postcodes am annoyed as it took a bit of finding as they don't make them any more

We got an empty envelope a few days ago. It was in a packet that says "sorry your item was damaged"

On a plus point, for some reason we are suddenly getting our mail in the morning rather than around 4pm. It's been arriving early for a few weeks which I thought was due to a road closure but the road is now open.

6 pieces of junk mail/ leaflets today though!

That must have been frustrating what's the point in giving you an empty envelope?

It had the invoice in it so we were able to trace what it actually was. To be honest, I think they should have returned it to the seller because we now have to explain to the seller that an empty envelope arrived, we can photograph the packaging but how do we prove we haven't just stuck their envelope into the "sorry we damaged your stuff packet" I took a photo before it was opened.

I'm not sure what's happening with it. My husband emailed the company but he's away this week.

on the contrary. work have just switched back to RM from one of the other "lower cost" service providers for customer orders and the service is miles better. we used to "lose" loads of packages with the other party.

Have you had a new postman lately?

Nope, it's still the same grumpy chops that it's been for a while. Possibly the diversion made him realise that route was quicker and he'd get done quicker. I hope so, it's nice to finally get mail early in the day.

PMSL @ grumpy chops.

I was in bed the other morning knackered after a working late the night before, when the door bell goes. I struggled up, answered it and the effin Postie handed me 3 standard letters. WTF is the letterbox for:rolleyes:.

Perhaps he just craves your company

It was a she. Maybe she wanted access to my dish cloth, mop and duster (but I don't possess such things):)

We have to get everything sent recorded now as we have had so much go missing parcels and letters some important others just sentimental.. when we phoned they said all offices were emptied every day so it should turn up... still waiting on most of the missing stuff.

Think so although he's later than he used to be so don't see him
At least one of the parcels would have been seen by parcel van though

Yes we have to do the same
I only now buy stuff online if I've got cover if it goes missing
It's a shame really must be a nightmare for eBay sellers with stuff going missing and people saying that it's gone missing when they've really had it

Sent a letter last week 1st class recorded from Cambs to Bristol, took four days, less than impressed

Think the idea is to get people using RMSD next day by one, did so for my daughter last week and a letter cost £6.40. Not so long ago i could send a boxed lens for about 7 quid, not a RM hater (my dad was a postie) but definitely going down the pan

I'm sure there's a couple of posties on the forum.

As cr@p and expensive as Royal Mail is, it's still, in my opinion, miles better than any of the alternatives, i've had terrible experiences with myHermes, Yodel, etc, etc, etc.

Uk mail are the pits compared to RM. Mail is taking 10 days from the date on the letter to arrive. This is including important mail like bank statements!

Not noticed much change really. Same bunch of posties as always.

When I worked for Royal Mail, as an engineering manager, they dealt with about 70 000 000 items per day! The number of items which were lost or substantially delayed was only 0.07% (not sure how they knew :)) but due to the vast numbers that comes to 49 000 items.
I wish other firms could be OK 99.93% of the time.

Rhetorical question of the day: Do we think that service will get better or worse now they've been sold off?

I know where my money is.

It has already got worse (that doesn't sound right?) Judging by what my ex workmates say (I'm a retired Postie) they are leaving in droves, taking VR etc, so there will be a lot of new, part time workers around and none of the Posties who are old time. That cannot be good.

The parcels never did turn up
And royal mail have stopped replying to emails
The ebay seller sent out another item as soon as I emailed them which I've had:)
The amazon seller (not amazon themselves) is delaying saying that they are waiting for the outcome of the royal mail investigation into the missing parcel
I will chase them for a refund
I found another secondhand satnav on amazon that can use ordanance survey grid references but have had to send it back as it was faulty, I'm not having much luck!
Given up now and borrow the wife's satnav!!

!
What's probably happening is instead of you getting mail at 4pm it's arriving in the morning THE DAY AFTER.
