What's going on with Nikon? More delays

Jessops information is the new Nikon keymissions are now delayed with no ETA, first the P900 was delayed, the DL line is still in the air and now the keymissions, They can't keep blaming earthquakes I think theres some great incompetence going on, they don't even say anything? Is this the way forward for nikon.

Yes read that somewhere, is this the beginning of the end? Not sure they can rely Solely on DSLRs and lenses which is all they seem capable of getting on the shelves

I hope not, would be very surprising.
 
Canon and Nikon should have been at the forefront of camera phones a decade or more ago. They were asleep then and they're asleep now while mirrorless picks up the last of the consumer buyers.
 
I ditched my Nikon d750 kit and pre ordered a Panasonic fz2000, I got fed up waiting for Nikon to come to the 4k party.
Nikon are now way behind in almost all sectors of the imaging market. I'm not surprised that they are making redundancies
Profits must be falling, and they seem unable to bring anything new to market.
 
We all hope not but it's worrying when they can't seem to get much right
Can't be doing much for sales or reputation

D500, 200-500 the only decent things they've produced in a couple.of years? Most the rest ( not that I can think of anything else) not up to much or delayed endlessly
 
Japanese companies and in particular in Japanese locations are just not set up for efficiencies, especially around personnel, the country just isn't set up that way - jobs for all is the duty. Not surprising they are struggling and when things go wrong they go very wrong.
 
The market is moving fast and Nikon and canon seem to be doing what Kodak did while film died and hoping it just blows over!

Maybe to Sony and then we might get some pioneering stuff from Nikon for a change. Might even get decent live view ;)

No. Not even close to the edge, and Nikon is in no worse position than some other big camera brands that are having to rescale their business to the new shape of the market. Things are beginning to look more like they were before the recent decades of growth - ie more up-market, targeting high-end enthusiasts like us :) but more specialist with lower sales volume, so prices will go up and innovation will slow.

Nikon, and others, will be smaller (at least on the camera side) but that doesn't mean unprofitable or unsuccessful. Ultimately Nikon comes under the Mitsubishi umbrella. Sony is not going to buy Nikon.

Been patiently waiting on replacements for the D810 and D750, thought they would have made an appearance at photokina :(

Nikon is still a profitable company, and according to the numbers, healthily so. They’re not going out of business. But as I predicted, they’re getting smaller.
 
Suspect we will see new kit early next year with a new D750 and D810, until recently sensor tech hadn't really moved on anyway, Sony's 42mp A7rii sensor and 30mp A99ii sensor are probably what's next for Nikon and we often see a lag as the Sony gear has a period of exclusivity on the sensors.

Aside from that I'm not sure where else you really expect Nikon to go with the DSLRs the tech is fairly stagnant at the moment and Live view aside it's not that had?
 
Just looked at the d5600, why didn't they just put those features in a firmware update, it's not really a new camera? Sorry Nikon have lost the plot.
No wonder people are turning to mirrorless

Nikon, Canon and Sony really need to take a leaf out the book of Olympus and Fuji with regards to firmware updates.
