Haven't contribute to this thread for a while. Mostly 'cause I listen to music all the time and it gets a bit tedious.

But listening to this right now, and it is superb.

Ha!

Was just asking my FB friends the following:

Just for giggles - Good enough for The Voice 2015?

You decide!

Iron Maiden - Donnington '88
I'd gone off them after Somewhere In Time came out, but agreed to drive some friends to this when they paid for my ticket and fuel. I had a bad ankle so didn't get involved in the crush. I loved GnR at the time and keep forgetting about the tragic events of the day.

Missed this one when you posted it.

Went to most Monsters of Rock festivals @ Donington from about 86 onwards and this one really sticks in the memory.

After a whisky drinking session at camp on the Friday, I remember us being very ill at the back by the toilets by the Dunlop Bridge during Helloween. There were about 6 of us and we lost one. We went back down the front for GnR and Magadeth then went back to find him during the Kiss set. Eventually found him asleep under a burger van before going back down the front for Maiden. The crush was insane but it was a great night.

Got back to camp after the concert to find our tent had had been burned down. Ended up having another heavy all nighter by a camp fire. Met a few folk that night that I'm still friends with to this day.

Despite being a huge crowd and very packed, It was only afterwards we learned about the deaths.

Went to many Donington festivals after that. AC/DC, Maiden again and obviously Metallica but by the early / mid 90s it had become pretty tame although I've some prints of a sky full of bottles of p*** during Battery.

These days my eldset tells me I'd never understand the tough conditions at T in the Park or Glastonbury and I just bite my tongue.:sneaky:
