Okay there's been a lot of controvesy lately with video now becoming available on DSLR's. Also a lot of "there should have been this/there should have been that.

So what would be your ultimate DSLR (is it one that already exists), bearing in mind the technology available at present, why would you want the specs and what would you use it for.

Nikon D3 at 24MP with a 12MP DX option that gives the same low noise we get now with the D3.

Thanks for replying Barney, I've sort of changed the original question slightly

D3DX - like a D3 but DX pro body. I don't like the add on grip the D300 has - rather have a one piece pro body - like my D2Hs.

^^
sounds like an expensive option though! :(

Coming from a Nikon chap I would like a

D3 body with built in flash so you can use CLS
VR on the sensor (must be as good as the lens based stuff)
Dust removal for sensor that works 100%
Built in wireless and GPS
I am not into all the how many megapixel stuff give me noise free images any day, just imagine how clean images from a full frame 8-10 meg sensor would be, i dont need more than 10meg.

In a more realistic viewpoint I'd be down for a D300 with grip. A D3 would be nice too.

But if I were to dream, then a nice travel camera the size of the D40 but with the awesomeness of the D3 but at a pricetag of a paperclip would be fantastic.

But for now I'll have to dream

One that feels like the 1D mk3, but with a menu and setup system suitable for an idiot (me), with 2 cf card slots to save havng different card types, inbuilt nd grad so the software stops skys blowing, automatic talent so it makes up for my lack of, and cost in the £00's not £000's

Otherwise I will stick with what I have got!!

My 1Ds MkII but with the menu system of the 5D. (I don't like that pressing two buttons thingie on the 1Ds to change options) A couple more fps would not go amiss either for my dream spec.

What would I use it for, everything I do now, studio, portrait, landscape, household objects, cars, kids, dogs etc, and with a couple more fps, sports would be a reality.

the 5d mark 1 looked smashing to me
