Well im still relatively new to this photography game and have decided id like some more light :D

Main fotography for me is at home ie small items, but i do like to get out and about with a few car owners clubs, new and old and occasionally do some night shots and as you can imagine i dont get the best lighting.

what would your recommendations be for the d90, on board flash with a slave or 2 or an offboard flash mounted to camera with 1 perhaps 2 slaves?

as i say im new to the seperate flashes and its overwhelming (to me) the choice thats out there,

Budget well id like to think there isnt one but as with everything there has to be so how about a budget a mid range and a no limits setup?

Thanks guys

Paul

I dont have any experience with Nikon stuff I'm afraid, but to help anyone else who maybe thinking of posting... I think it would help to make it clear exactly what your thinking of photographing, and where, since this effects things a lot :) Macro stuff? people? cars?

well stuff at home, is flowers, vases usual small objects with not much "natural light"

the cars will generally be outside, open space with occasional street lamps and building lights but not much else.

I think the D90's flash works as an i-TTL controller? (If not, you'll need a separate controller unit.) Then just add any number of remote slave guns for off-camera wireless auto flash. It works brilliantly, provided you are within range which is no probs at all indoors but can be tricky outside in bright sun.

For your indoor stuff, get a softbox. If you have range problems outside, get some radio triggers but you'll lose auto-TTL exposure control - manual only, but no deal breaker.

Flash In The Pan sells softboxes and radio triggers at good prices. See this thread http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=157807
