What would you do?

I came home from work today to find a missed delivery card from Royal Mail.
Correct address and postcode but the name on it was Joanne Johns.

We live in a very small cul de sac.
It's got a distinctive name and not one that somebody is likely to mistype or get confused over and we know almost all the neighbours - nobody else in the street by that name that I know of.

I do have a couple of crafty bits and pieces that I've ordered from EBay that I'm waiting for, but I don't think that there's anything too big to fit through the letterbox.

So the question is, what would you do?
Do I just leave it at the PO depot and let them return it to sender or do I let curiosity get the better of me and go to pick it up?

Trying to work out if there's a potential scam in there somewhere, but not sure what it could be.

If you go you may have to provide ID so that could be a problem, you could ring and ask if they have it correct
As for packaging, my time in the office showed me that some people go to stupid lengths, a pair of earrings in a huge box
is just one example
If there is anything to pay it should be a grey card

I get quite a few bits and bobs delivered to the depot (normally crap from HK to feed my craft habit :lol) and they don't usually ask for i.d. unless it's an item that needs to be signed for.
Even then Darren has sometimes picked them up for me and as long as his i.d. matches the address we haven't had a problem.
TBH our postman and the regular staff at the depot are fab and they know most of their regular customers by sight anyway.

But that's a thought.
Maybe it is something of mine in oversized packaging and the seller has got names mixed up on the packages

If you do go you'll probably have to pay for insufficient postage:)

I'd leave it and let them return it.

Cheers.

Definitely a red card not a grey one, so that can't be the scam if it is one.

That's what I was thinking maybe, somebody got your name mixed up and it is for you :)

Possibly.
I'm not expecting anything worth more than a few pounds, but still don't want to miss out if it is mine.
On the other hand I don't want to be lumbered with trying to return some random unwanted object

Appareently 47 of them on the electoral register if any of them is near you? http://www.192.com/atoz/people/johns/joanne/

Closest there is Bristol which is still 40 miles away (and in a different country) so I don't think it could be any of them, but thanks for looking

I'm passing the PO depot on Saturday anyway, so tempted to stop off.
As I said though, I just don't want the hassle of dealing with it if it's not mine.

Can you phone and ask them if there is a Sender name on it?
