Could you all please respect other people's views and experiences and get back on topic to the OP's questions about having too much Photography gear around?
I understand his points all too well, I have several cameras, two of which are dSLRs, but when I need to quickly grab a shot I go for the fastest easiest camera to use - a LUMIX PnS.
But, part of my love of photography is my love of the hardware, the technology (even if I don't understand it all to the fullest). I really enjoy owning and handling well made gear, I enjoy the aesthetics of good design and ergonomics.
Of course, I also enjoy it immensely when I can get excellent pictures. If I limited myself to one camera only I'd be missing out on some of the other things I enjoy.
Also, I like to think that buying new and additional gear helps the industry along a little..
So, what would I do? Whatever comes natural of course. Unless you do it for a living, photography is a hobby - it's personal and we all have our own reasons to be into it..
Cheers and Merry Xmas to all from down-under
