Evening all,

Having recently purchased a Nikon D200 I now have my old D70 spare. My question is what would you do with it?

Trade it in for a new lens?
Keep it for spare. Although I can honestly say I cant see it getting much use. I cant think of places where I would take the 70 that I wouldnt the 200. I would probably only borrow the 70 to my mum from time to time for holidays etc...

Any ideaS?

KEEP IT! I have the same combo and the peace of mind of a back up body is wonderful, and when you are in one of those 'need two different lenses on at once' scenarios, its is sooooo much easier just having two cameras on the go. Unless you desperately need the cash, definately keep the D70 IMO

If you don't need the money then with out a doubt keep it, I can tell you how many times I wish I'd had two bodies when shoot events. One with a tele lens and on e with a wide.

I had this problem when I bought a 40D and decided to keep my 350D. Never used the 350D since. Not even touched it. So I'd say sell it.

I totally agree with above..I wouldn't have thought you'd get that much for a D70 anyway, so it'd be worth more keeping it mounted with a lens, to save you changing glass..

I have to admit Im a bit of a camera whore and love to collect them.

I did think about the situation where id need a wide and then suddenly telephoto lens. I.e. car show etc. Where time is of the essence.

I dont desperately need money so at the moment I do want to keep it. My thoughts were that it would be nice to get a bit of cash back on the d200 purchase...

Thanks for your inputs.
Lady lens do you find your self switching between the two alot? Does the 70 get a lot of use?

A lot more than I expected tbh. 'Shows' of all kinds, such as motor racing, horse shows, anything where the action can be far away then close up in a very short space of time. My usual thing is to have the longer lens on the D200 as it focuses that bit quicker especially at distance, and the shorter one on my D70s. Even silly things like a walf round hastings a few month ago, where were sat on the beach shooting the boats wth short lenses, and at same time seagulls with longer ones. I started by leaving the 70 in the car, after 20 minutes I went back for it as I had already change the lenses 3 times! :bonk:

I'm in a similar dilemma at the moment! I've got a 5D and two 20D's! I only tend to use one of the 20D's as a back-up so was thinking about selling one of them!

keep it, seeing that its nikon, you could use it as a door stop...
i'll get me coat :)

i'd say keep it...i only have one body at the moment, but i'll be adding another pretty soon.i wish i'd had two bodies last saturday whilst shooting red kites...one set up for the sky shots(exposure,ISO etc..)and one for the low to ground shots...and as whats been said, you won't get much for it anyway(trade-in at dealers).
