Hi

as title i am pretty much bored but i want to get out with my camera,

but then i look out side and the skys are grey and there are no clouds and light is rubbish. Any ideas of what to do to produce some reasonable shots. i have ND filters if any use as well as the norm,al tripod 18-55 and 70-300mm

thanks

Mark

Go try some b&w shots of wet streets?

the problem is it isn't raining and the town is miles away.

there are lots of leaves though but the sky looks rubbish!

With an overcast sky you get diffused light so you just need to use that to your advantage. Having it in shots wont work so you need to get in close and use the soft diffused light.

sorry i do not really understand, so use thelight to take photos of other things?

You could always curl up in front of the fire with a good book. Something like your camera manual perhaps or 'How to Take a Picture when the Weather's Bad' by I.N.Clement or something

Some nice long exposure water shots where the lack of light will actually help!

Feeling pretty damn miserable about the weather myself!

However, have you seen the weekend challenge posted by Witch? its here

Ill probably come back with nowt ... however, Im still going to pop out for an hour to see if I can come up with any shots from her list.
Tbh, you probably dont even need to go out to get some of those... why not give it a go!

The light is quite nice when its overcast. It simply forces you to ignore the sky and see what you can get. Thankfully I have a city 20 minutes away so I can go there and shoot urban b&w's.

should i show you what i did today after i went out?

here it is

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK

As long as its not a picture of B&Q because you decided to go shopping instead!

no it isn't and as you can see it is above!

Nice shot, it works even better in B&W with the blue slider lower to darken the sky!

It is here, it would work better from the RAW file and maybe dodge and burn would darken the sky more without ruining the rest of the picture but it was just asking for the b&w treatment!
