she has gone £10 to local charity, £10 to her...

Fair enough...

I found a wallet when I was about 8 or nine. It belonged to the local farmer who was minted and lived in a massive house at the end of the village. Me and my mate handed it back to him, much to his relief, and despite us thinking he was a right crotchety old fart, he went inside and came out with some of his war medals, which he gave us one each. I still have the medal somewhere at my folks'....

If I could identify the owner then I would hand it over - and I have done in the past. If there was no way I could identify the owner, then I'd put it my pocket.

I found a Rolex Oyster watch in the changing rooms of a gym I used to go to years ago. I handed it in to the reception and I witnessed them entering it into the lost property book. The next week when I went to the gym, I asked if the watch had been collected - there was no watch in the lost property and so the receptionist looked in the book - the page had been ripped out.

If you cant find the owner bung it in a cancer charity tin.

It all depends on the scenario. I was walking home after a night out on Friday past a busy pub, I was on the other side of the road and saw a £10 note on the floor, was I going to go upto a group of around 30 lads and lasses and ask them all one by one if they have lost a £10 note?

Of course I wasn't and it got me and my mate some supper.

Think what you want of me, but in that situation I kept it.
