What would be in your camera bag for New York?

Also going in March! I'll be taking my 6D and 24-70 + 17-40. I've tried travelling light before and I've always missed what I didn't bring.

Can a tripod be taken up the Rock / Empire State ?

I think I saw quite a few up there with tripods, me included with no hassles... (up the rock that is the ESB is a lot smaller and thus more problematic)

I'm going in exactly 2 weeks! I'm taking my 6d, 24-105, 35mm f/2, 85mm f/1.8 and 14mm (I won't be carrying them all at the same time!). Can't wait :)

what lenses would be best?

Same lenses as would be best anywhere else in the world. If you want to shoot at 200mm then you'd better take your 70-200, and if you want to shoot at 20mm, then your 20mm is going to be a solid bet.

Personally I'd take the Fuji and leave the rest at home, because I can't afford to travel all the time, so I wouldn't want lugging camera gear around to affect my time over there.

18-300mm also 10-20mm covers most eventualities

Some of this is true, but I've travelled a lot and I've always regretted not taking the DSLR when I took a smaller option (in my case a Fuji x100 and a Sony RX100 as good as they are) even if I only took one lens with it.

All of it is true.
Sounds like you'd do things differently to me, but that has no bearing on the veracity of what I said.

Ok let me rephrase, this is of course true for you (that goes without saying), the first bit is definitely true for all, but the second bit will only be true for some people.

Then I put it into my perspective as someone who's travelled extensively, and sometimes regretted not taking my DSLR.

Hope that clarifies.

Ok thanks. I have found Adorama has some good videos..will see if they do anything like this. Adorama is free.
