NopeI was always under the impression that was the original ?
"David Bowie wrote the song and also produced it,along with Mick Ronson.Bowie provided the backing vocals on Lulu's track.
The Man Who Sold The World reached #3 in the UK charts"
Yeah not a bad cover, but I still prefer the original![]()
.
He released the album "The Man Who Sold The World in 1970. The famous Bowie in a dress cover. It was the follow up to the Space Oddity album.
The album included the song of the same title.
He sung it live at a concert in Croydon (my first of many Bowie Concers I attended) just prior to the release of the Hunky Dory album and before Lulu's version was recorded and released. Apparently she has, today, spoken of a relationship with Bowie. Lulu' version is therefore a 'cover' of a released song.
