I don't really want a pocket wizard unless I have no choice... It is for very occasional use....

What are my options please ?

Range isn't that important to me... It's more for putting the camera on a tripod & pressing the button....
 
A pair of RF-603's will do it. Cost around £22, and give around 100 feet of range. Use them on my d700 a bit.
