What will you never carry in your camera bag again?

Yes
Whilst reading through Samphire's thread, "What's in your camera bag", I was reminded of things which, over the years, I've carried in my camera bag but realised fairly soon afterwards that it wasn't such a good idea.

For example, a few years ago, I stashed quite a pile of toilet-roll in my camera bag. Great idea - it's handy stuff and you can't have too much tissue paper, right? Wrong! As the tissue degraded over time, I was continuously having to clean the fibres off my kit. :( Similarly, during one outing, I thought it was a good idea to carry my chalk bag (for climbing) in my camera bag... clearly another belter from my ideas factory! :cuckoo:

So, what things have you carried in your camera bag and later regretted, vowing never to do so again?

hopefully not a big dslr, got fed up carrying around the body, lenses and filters etc, almost walked with a stoop given its weight!

I've had the energy sachets in my camera bag for when I'm out walking with my camera, however yesterday, I just had them in my walking bag on a 16mile challenge and supped them along the way. Couldn't find any bins so put them back in my pouch. Cue getting home and emptying my pouch to find that one of them I hadn't quite drained and the sticky goo had leaked over my stuff in there. Won't be putting them in my camera bag full or empty now. That stuff is horrible to try to clean off of stuff!

Sugar! I have a bag that has a tripod pocket internally and when not in use I can just about squeeze the 70-200 into it. Trouble is on one occasion I had dropped a load of sugar sachets in there and then promptly forgot about them - yes, helped along the falling apart route by being rubbed by tripod legs, you can image the rest :bonk: Luckily it only ended up around the hood and lens cap so no damage done, but never, ever store sugar in your bag :cuckoo:

I will let you know when I get back off me hols, I think if I look hard enough the kitchen sink is in there lol.

A Nikon ! :bang:
Now watch the sparks fly!! :naughty:

Suppose it could be worse we could be carrying cameras made by a photocopier company.;)

The things I never carry in my camera bag are the things that dont fit.:)

Aaanyway, that's enough banter from me on the manufacturer front... (In reality I hate them all equally. :))

Overripe bananas. Been there, done that, spent ages cleaning up afterwards. :(

Any trophies taken from recent victims.

The police are keen on stopping photographers anyway, so best not to carry that severed ear or finger :D

no, its best to eat the evidence ;)

WRT to the op i once put a pot of custard in my camera bag - not the best idea i've ever had

I think you'll find when hungry on the top of a hillside after a long day of hiking and photography the discovery of a pot of custard to eat in your bag may just be the best idea you've ever had.

Just saying it's all about the context.

Exploded custard = bad

Emergency custard = good

UV filters...........;)
