What will a Nikon Ai lens do on a D90?

I am looking at a Nikon 105mm Ai lens and would like to know what I can expect when it is on a D90.

Will it auto-focus, meter etc or will all functions be manual only?

Yes completely manual, you need a D200/D300 upwards for metering but you still won't get AF as they are all manual focus lenses. I've just got a 105 2.5 AI-S for my D700, liking it a lot and the build quality is impeccable.

i use this lens on my fuji S5pro.it meters fine and picture Q is outstanding.used auction prices on fleebay around £120ish,its a fantastic lens and nicely built too.on your D90 you should have the use of the in-focus light in the view screen which is not normally spot on but their abouts,unless your eyesight is not brilliant or you need speed you will find it a big saving on the a/f equivelent
