Thats the same five main words they used at a business conference I recently attended.Seems to be the main Words for any part of life

Perhaps you were both at the same conference.

If someone critics my photos, I'd like it from someone that knows what they are talking about and can say why they don't like it. Most people will have an opinion and it will likely be non-photographers that see my pictures. So that would mean that anyone can comment. I just like people to say why.

Currently my biggest selling pictures, are probably my worst technically, which would be slated on here, so maybe we need to see past technique and look at the whole picture. Just use techniques to correct a really poor one.

I'm talking rubbish really. Hmm, getting late.

I must add. A while back someone critiqued a photo by a photographer on here, that is very successful in his specialized area (not pete carr), he didn't like that as the person that critiqued his picture was not at the same commercial standard as he was. Surely that person still has an opinion on what he likes or doesn't.

Exactly NatJag but who is to say that they know what they are talking about???
As photography is an art form you can only be governed by opinions so if someone posts a pic(s) and doesn't get the feedback they were expecting or hoping I dont believe they should get irate.. It is only an opinion and everyones tastes differ. If they cant except negative feedback then dont post pictures... IMO

Back to the thread:

WHAT: All positives and negatives.... We are all here to learn and although opinions differ you can get a general feeling of love or hate

WHO: Anyone on here... Its only their opinion but if everyone said the same negatives about the pic then you know you need to probably change your technique

WHERE: Hopefully in the right section else the mods will move it ;)

WHEN: Early evening: NOT this late as I usually do :bonk:

WHY: Ego boost.. Only joking. Just the enjoyment of being able to share your photos and thoughts and hopefully receive some feedback that will help you improve.

I must add, that although I don't post many pictures myself, when I do. I try to take on board what people tell me, or sometime explain why I did something, that probably didn't work if someone has a negative comment on it. Looking at other photographers comments is also good to pick up good and bad points.
As Vinnyb states, receive some feedback, while at the same time, hopefully getting enjoyment from taking the pictures and sharing them in the first instance.
 
WHAT: Honest appraisals.

WHO: Experienced photographers who can express an informed opinion.

WHERE: Wherever the image best fits?

WHEN: No idea, the time I post varies and I often post throughout the day.

WHY: To get feedback and try to improve.

Motorpsor and Transports, Animals and Nature, birds, general photo sharing, macro and I have been to people and portraits once.

When ever I have it ready for the internet. I.E resized, logo etc.

Seriously, I think there are some good points being raised here. One of the main things for me is what Natjag says - that we need to see past the technique - I am totally in agreement here - yes, it matters, but it is not the reason for taking or liking a picture. My Mother dislikes a picture I took of my daughter as daughter has chocolate all over her face - that is all she notices.
I like it because of the chocolate, plus, as a bonus, it is good technically, by my standards.

Again, to quote Lady Lens - " any comment is appreciated especially those that are well thought out and constructive."

WHAT. honest criticisms

WHO, does not matter, everyone has a different view.

WHERE, mainly landscape and nature

WHEN, post whenever I feel like.

WHY, to become better at what I do
 
What – honest critique

Who – anyone who gives up their time to post

Where – where it should go, no point upsetting the mods

When – when I’ve finished with it in PS

Why – to boldly go where no man has gone before! :wave:
 
WHAT - Admiration for how good my skills are (no, really...:lol:)

WHO - anyone will do - my big headedness in indiscriminate

WHERE - usually in general photography because that's where most of the action is, but I'm usually way off the mark

WHEN - early evening seems to work best with correctly timed bumps to up the comment count

WHY - to boost my ego because I have extremely low self-esteem and crave attention.
