Edit My Images
No
I never print pictures but decided I wanted to start, so to check my monitor settings and what sharpening I would like I sent the same image off to DSCL with different settings.

I use LR3 and wanted a 15x10 image. So I selected 15x10 as a crop in LR and exported to my desktop ready for uploading. The PPI was set at 240 which I'm led to believe is different to the 300dpi they ask for?

I uploaded the pics and got them back with 2or 3 mm of white border. I definitely cropped to 15x10.

Why have I got the white borders? It's not the end of the world these are test prints but I just want to make sure I don't make the same mistake again :)

Should I have set the ppi to 300?

5 x Prints (15"x10", Gloss, PreSized, Pre-corrected (Pro Only), White border)

That's what I ordered, I don't remember seeing an option without white border. That must be my mistake? So even though I selected 15x10 crop in LR3 with 240ppi I should have been fine for edge to edge if I hadn't selected white border?

Exactly that
I haven't used DSCL for a while so I can't confirm where in the order process the border/no border selection is.

I haven't ordered anything with them for a couple of months, but I'm pretty sure the 'without border' option is there with all the others. Must have just missed it....

Size, finish and, border are the three options you get (in that order) on the opening screen of all new orders in desktop kiosk.

May be different if you order direct through their website, never used that option.

EDIT : To get consistent results, you would need to use their print profile as well but, maybe you already knew that.

Thanks for the help and confirmation guys, I tried to get the profile to work in LR3 but can't get it to load. Doing further reading it seems I need to use LR4 for print profiles?

Is that correct?

Custom profiles work fine in LR3. Save the profile to your PC. Right click on it and select 'install'.

In the export dialogue in LR3, go to File Settings and select the relevant profile under the Colour Space drop down. It'll be called DS something depending on the one you've chosen.

Without border is definitely an option. I ordered a set of prints last night and made sure I checked "no border"

Just a bump now I'm ready to print again with dscl. This time I used the colour profile on export. The thumbnail on my desktop looks odd, quite bright compared to my normal rgb export. Is this normal?

2-3mm what's the problem I'm sure you're going to put this lovely image in a mount anyway?

Some sizes in disclose come with slight oversize to fit the next standard paper size. It tells you which on there site. Maybe this is the case here ? Did you measure the actual print area ?
