What was the last photography portfolio book you bought?

I'm not talking about photoshop books or anything like that, but a body of work by a particular photographer.

The last one I bought was Ansel Adams - 400 Photographs.

Would be interested to see what this thread throws up.
 
Personal exposures by Elliot Erwitt signed and dedicated to me when I met him in person many years ago. I've given up buying books for a while as I have so many
 
Never bought one, never bought (or read) any photography book really. No sure why... :(
 
I've recently bough Eye to Eye by Frans Lanting and on my birthday I received Planet Earth and Blue Planet compilations, BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and a National Geographic compilation book.

I'm currently pricing up and ordering older Portfolios of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year
 
The Moment it clicks by Joe McNally was the last one I bought. Pretty good!
 
Not a portfolio by any one individual as such,

'Photos That Changed The World' - "From triumph to tragedy, this book gathers together several photos of pivotal moments in the world history."

let truth be prejudice a book about the life and work of W,Eugene Smith this was bought for me at an exhibition many years ago at the Barbican London.

This man was a true photographer who was concerned with telling great truth's with a camera and it destroyed him.
Essential reading for anyone truly interested in photography,rather than just messing around with cameras and photoshop.

I've never heard of the name. Will look him up. Sounds interesting.
 
Helmut Newton and before that Vanity Fair Covers and Bob Carlos Clarke.
 
not really a portfolio book, but hot shoe diaries by Joe Mcnally, outstanding book

I think it's good to have some background knowledge on the subject, particularly about the masters of the medium. I'm building a really good library of photography books at the moment, it's my pride and joy, secondly only to my Wife and my camera... ha ha.

'The Cuillin' by Gordon Stainforth.

Gordon Stainforth's third book focuses on what many climbers and walkers regard as Britain's finest chain of mountains. Using over 120 full colour plates and accompanying text Gordon considers the special qualities that make the Cuillin unique; mountains rising sheer from the sea, a magical light, rapidly changing weather conditions....

The Cuillin, one of the most successful mountain books of its type ever to have been published in Britain, is now out of in print after seven print runs in thirteen years. There is a possibility that it will be reissued in 2009.

Didn't buy it but I received Animal Portraits by Andy Rouse as a gift a while back.
 
Hag - "How things are."
Hag was very inspirational to me as a young tog many years ago (and still is - its just that digital "bird on a stick" is so much easier than the stuff he does!)

Mind you, his work may surprise some of those who think that "manipulation" started with photoshop!

The Art of Seeing 2 is a good one from Reuters.
 
Aftermath: World Trade Center Archive by Joel Meyerowitz

Some real amazing images in there.
 
I didn't buy it, but I received some time ago a National Geographic Book: The World's Top Photographers: Travel & Nature. Workshops.

Just started to look at it now. And of course it's translated into PL, but nicely done. Some nice shots in there too.
