1957 Morris Minor, it was older than me!

In 1982 my first car was a 1972 Austin 1300 bought for £100. Scraped ten months later when I bought a Capri MK1 facelift.......

I remember the insurance on the Capri was under £100.....

My Dad bought me a Triumph Toledo in a lovely mud colour which I took my test in and nearly scared the instructor witless - passed the second time though! ;)

Vauxhall Viva - we had one of those, column gear change :-)

Mine had a normal gear shift, 4 speed I will have you know!!
It did have a straight speedo which I thought was really cool at the time

silly lady :p
My first car was a clio with a leeking sunroof :D what a car that was

1996 pug 106 xi independence 1.1i

Bought in 1998, a year old Fiat Punto 60 for 6k. I was only 17, oh the independence!!

Ford Cortina MK4, 1.6L. Loved it to bits. It had all kinds of strange rattles and clanks plus the spring that stopped you shoving into reverse gear by accident, (reverse was 1st and over a bit), was broke so I sometimes went in the wrong direction at junctions. The chap who had owned it before me had stuck some go-faster stripes along each side which I decided to rip off when I got the car. Sadly he had put them on after painting the car, while the paint was still wet. Oops.

Still the best 250 quid I've ever spent though. :)

Triumph Herald 1200 saloon sometime around 1976 I think, deep crimson in colour and a truly sweet car... poor thing's probably rusted away now <sigh>. I replaced it with a Triumph Dolomite 1500HL which was a complete and utter POS, British Leyland at their absolute worst! I remember on the snake pass once, I turned the steering wheel right and the car went left, steering linkage had broken... Flippin' death trap that car was!

First car I bought myself was a white Rover Metro for £600. Lasted me a year and a half before I sold it to a friend...for a £1 (It was cheaper than scraping it)

tell a lie actually the first car i had was a defender 90 one series masive 3.2 V6 and the fuel cap was under the passinger seat, got it as a wreck when i was 16 and sold it when i was 17 after doing it up :D

This one! in 1990........

Bought it brand new and kept it for 8 years!

Back in 1980 my first was a 1974 Mk3 Cortina 1600 L (reg. NCX 3M). Killed it by reversing into a brick wall and the boot floor pan came away from the inner wheel arch.

I had a f reg fiat uno in blue, 998cc reg f988dvm(scary what random stuff you remember!). it was rusting all over the place, unfortunately two weeks after getting it, i turned right in front of astra, caved in the front grill and wrote off the astra. my dad wasnt happy bout coming out to pick me up at the time!!!

dark blue x5 in 2007 :D, my first car and first new car, still have it and love the way i can throw all my gear in the back (and traveling studio!) hehehehe

A yellow Austin Mini Van similar to this one except mine had BEN Bolton Evening News painted on the side. It was R plated but not sure what I paid for it back in 1978.

triumph dolomite 1500hl

Hope yours was better than mine!

I had a 1981 white Yugo 311 1100cc!!! bought for £180, my mates used to laugh at it, they didn't find it as funny when I drove passed them at the bus stop on the way to college when it was chucking it down!

I took my driving test in it aswell I don't think the instructor thought much of it!! it cost me £354 TFT to insure!

looked like this but white:

1955 Ford Poplar acquired in 1961, free of charge courtesy of an uncle - air driven wipers, no heater and holes in the floor where the wind used to blow up your trouser leg, used to wear bike clips in the winter! Oh happy motoring eh!

Mine was a '66' Ford Corsair Deluxe (1750cc V-four). Paid £120 for in in 1975 and sold it for £50 about a year later and bought a 1600 Super MkII Cortina.....jack the lad then
The Corsair was the same colour as this one.

BMW 320i. I still miss that car :(

Now got a Mazda 626 which I've currently only got part time access to :(

1963 Humber Sceptre that looked a bit like this ...

sceptrebrochure.jpg

Brochure pic.

It cost me £60 in 1979 and I then had to spend another £80 for a MKII with a knackered body so that I could do an engine swap!

Those were the days when I'd spend all weekend trying to fix it up so that it would last through the following week! Great times.

Cheers,

Nigel

1970 Morris Marina 1.8 Coupe! It was 8 years old at the time. Loved it! Got airborne in it several times. Split the chassis in the end. Poor thing.

First one was a Citroen Dyane, in fact it was the first of 2 I owned, awesome car, I did 50,000 miles in the first one - then the V-Dub phase kicked in and vehicles have been money pits ever since !

My first car was a 1964 beetle and it cost me £85 in 1976 :)

Mine was a 1979 Fiat 131 Supermirafiori, bought in 1985 for 3000 Rand. Kept it until I left RSA to go work overseas (Saudi Arabia) in 1989 then gave it to my brother who kept it until 1994. Same as the following pic.
