Just curious as to what the rest of TP do to images to even tweak them.

On this shot I think I'd try and bring out some detail in the shadow areas and the boat, but it's personal taste really.
 
First thing would be straighten, then play with the curves a bit, tweak the white balance, up the saturation slightly and a hefty sharpen.
